RuGaard's flight by Kooskia RuGaard's flight by Kooskia
(c) E.E.Knight (author)
(c) Kooskia (fancomic artist).

Another fancomic about the draconic series of Age of Fire. Also this time there were multiple amazing scenes and fun episodes that i could work on to make this little work ^^
Once again i've to thank :icongoogynoober: to have asked this to me and :iconamcalmaron: for having made me discover this series.

I could even added an element, because the red dragon actually helped the protagonist RuGaard to take the flight from the cliff.. i could have drawn him kicking the pair and force them to take the flight but i didn't know how to do it.

(PS: yep... dragons in Age of Fire mate mostly while flying, as it happens in Pern series).

Heya! It's cool you finally read it! It's a totally worth series, even if the very last book has some confusing ponts and typo mistake xd
For one thing I heard it's quite interesting about Halaflora because the author was uncertain how to handle a bit the revelations concerning her end. How much did you read of the series? all the books?

I have read six of the books. No I search for the prequel about Irelia the siblings' mother. IMHO 1-3 books are wonderful and the last isn't good. The author seems to write AoF in short breaks between his main vampire series. Actually E.E. Knight made some cross-points (or he got inspiration from books about vampires) in AoF. I mean all that mess with the dragon blood and its ability to evolve human and animal species into kinda monster forms :( Speaking of Halaflora... We have Nilrasha's words about the event. She didn't help Halaflora so the poor dragoness died of suffocation. Of course Nilrasha could lie. :P

I cant understand if you write a question if you don't type a question mark ^^
And no need to send me notes now, becuase yeah... obviously (as usually I write in the description), the scenes happens in books, just sometimes I simplify or merge two different dialogues etc...

Haha I never thought of it that way XD

My favorite part is "I should add more sexual education for my next students in Dragonwatch" lol

Hahahaha well done, I specifically like the "hump her hard batty" now when ever I read that chapter I'm going to imagine that XD

Hehe i really suggest you the books ^^ the second one can be a bit boring in some parts, but the third is awesome...
"Batty" is actually an official a bit insultive nick-name they gave him...
But the line is of course a bit exageratted xD
I should have added of course that the red dragon (that's basically his former teacher) actually go up the rock and help him to extend the wing...

heh,  no need to explain, I know the book quite well, I'm in the middle of reading through it for the 2nd time, and Wistala's story isn't boring its just a bit slower, but has a different beauty. RuGaard is probably my favourite, but AuRon's story caught my heart

Oh hehe yeah, you're right.. but at some point of Wistala's book i started to got a bit eager to see the events going on a bit faster.
BTW i'm sadly full of books to read, but as soon as i can, i would love to read 4,5,6 and see the three protagonists meets and acts together..

I have no idea what it is about. I guess, it's another "not quite exact" illustration of some scene :D

But it's nice. Especially the 4th panel.

It's a scene from the third book of the Age of Fire series. In that series (basically Watership Down but with dragons instead!) dragons traditionally mate in mid-air, but in a vast underground settlement known as the Lavadome, dragons (or at least members of the Imperial Line) also do this in front of a crowd. In this scene, protagonist RuGaard and Halaflora have been forced into a marriage (which actually works out), but both of them are fairly crippled (RuGaard has a crippled foreleg, a dud wing, a missing claw, and a broken tail, and Halaflora's just chronically ill), so their mating flight only lasts about ten seconds. However, Halaflora never thought she'd ever get married because of her ill nature, so she's happy anyway.

Thanks for the explanation, now I understand more details of the comic.

Haha.. well.. often i make a mix, i take the original event, altering a bit the text and enforcing the comical event. But the basic events remains: RuGaard having to show his mating flight in front of the whole crowd (it's not just a fly, the actually mate while flying) , and being limp on one wing it wasn't a show-to-be-proud.
Plus i should have added the fact that NeStirrath (the red dragon) also helped the protagonist making him take the fligth from the cliff, to spare him for further awkwardness.

BTW, which book has this scene?
I recently started reading Dragon Champion (Age of Fire #1), I have read less than a half of it. So far there is only one young dragon there, and no one of the characters you have drawn.

It's from book #3
I could tell you a thing about a character's identity in this fan-comic, but it's spoiler ^^

And there will be more dragons in the next books x3

I guess what you mean. Already looked (just a bit) at wikipedia and learned that first 3 books are dedicated to 3 siblings and describe their adventures in parallel and independently, so those books may be read independently and in any order.
I really like this concept.
I stopped reading the article after that to avoid spoilers :D

Yes, even if they're indipendent, actually there are still some minor events that are mentioned in another book (however with limitate or zero knowledge that there is another dragon behind the scheme, or the outcome of some battle etc...) so it's still better to read them in order.
The following 4,5,6 books however should be more strictly related to each other (i've not yet read them).

AMCAlmaron already told me half a year ago that the scene is from book 3, but I forgot and didn't notice his comment when asked you.
But I want to mention that I started reading Age of Fire only because of this comic :D

Haha don't worry! I make this mistake "on reversal": it happens to me to speak about this or this other book or cartoon...
And usually i forget how much i told to this friend, and which series i've suggested and which one i've forgot.

Awesome! He's not presented in a favourable light in the first two books, but once you see his POV in book 3 (THE BEST BOOK), that changes...

Heh, I hadn't actually noticed that until you mentioned it, but now that I see it I really like it! I think the third panel's the best for showing off the differences (and Halaflora looks cute beside RuGaard).

Have you started book four yet? Or even five? Once you start book five (or at least read the first few chapters) I'll be able to discuss events involving Halaflora without fear of spoilers...

Oh btw... i think to have finally settled a sort of standard for my interpretation of dragons of age of fire in arts xD
I've basically lost in mind that they're supposed to have "ears", and i've added them up the crest as something of long and aerodynamic: in some ways not differently from elfic ears..
And i've drawn them in a way that they can be more noticed on female's heads (having no horns), plus i've worked on the forhead more...
