Iskierka meets Mei by Kooskia Iskierka meets Mei by Kooskia
(c) Kooskia (fancomic)
(c) Naomi Novik (original characters and story)

Thanks for :icongoogynoober-2014: for asking me this ^^

(  NOTE: obviously, only AFTER i coloured it, scanned it, and having made little corrections with paint, i remembered that actually Mei has a more bluish colour <.<

Damn....  well.... i still uploaded, but if needed i could try correct the original page, even if will means lots of re-working <.< )

A little fancomic of the last book of Temeraire, Blood of Tyrants.
Eventyally Iskierka and Mei had to meet xD And i wasn't disappointed from the meeting.

The first part it's basically exactly what happened in the text, with a pretty-much jelous red dragoness insulting the sweet Mei xD (and she understand exactly what Iskierka said).

The later part it's mostly made by me...  joking about the Iskierka's spikes (mentioned as being a little issue in the previous book) and the fact that Mei in the second book was basically a teacher for Temeraire: a teacher in chinese culture and language and poetry, but with strong hints that she actually also gave him "lessons" on something else xD

PLEASE; IF YOU FAVE IT, DON'T RUSH AND RUN, LEAVE A LITTLE COMMENT!!
IT'S NICE TALKING WITH OTHERS ; )

it's called "Temeraire" wrote by Naomi Novik.
You can find it pretty much everywhere (it's a recent series).
It's nine books. Basically alternate history with some fantasy: dragons existing in our world and being used during Napoleonic Wars.
Dragons are sentients (but many are a bit dumb), capable of speach and integrated (but still feared ad poorly understood by common folk) in European nations as part of military force.
There is a captain-dragon relationship not different from many other fantasy relationships between dragon and dragon-riders.

I notice you read (and are in groups of) Wings of Fire.
Temeraire is a for more mature readers (young adults), because include more graphic scenes of deaths and killing. Additionally to hints and mentions (but nothing of graphic) of sexuality both for dragons and humans.

First books follow only the human point-of-view in third person, but much attention is given to the dragon companion.
Later books include a 50% presence of dragons chapters point-of-view, and they are very cool.

Haha. Temeaire and Mei are adorable and Iskerika certainly deserved that.  But the funniest of those scenes for me is still the one in book 3.

[ He went out to collect Temeraire, whose profoundly smug and indecorous satisfaction might have put him to the blush, were he disposed to be in any way critical of what pleasures Temeraire might enjoy under the present circumstances." ]

That in itself was hilarious, but to follow that with:

[ “But is it?” Laurence asked, feeling slow and stupid, “Did not you and Mei…?” Belatedly the nature of the question stopped him.

“That had nothing to do with eggs,” Temeraire said dismissively, “it is quite different,” and coiling his tail neatly around himself went to sleep, leaving Laurence all the more confused, as he could not dream of prying further. ]

I laughed for several minutes while having the dual reaction of "What?" and "I don't want to know!!!".  Oh Novik, I can't think of anyone else that makes dragon... romance a point of comedy.

Oh you're so right! But to be honest I ever perceived the whole affair as something of different from "romance".
After all it's not that dragons in Temeraire appears to be very "romantically involved."
Indeed Mei was a scholar sort-of assigned to Temeraire to instruct him on arts, poetry, culture, tradition however..
In a way, I think that's probable that Mai's tasks as "teacher" for Temeraire included teaching him "on practics" the arts of mating xD

I think it's fitting with the general details of how Chinese medieval courts were managed...

Hehe actually i ever interpreted it as less ambiguous than it could appear...
Basically Mei as assigned to him as teacher... not just for history/poetry but also for all the whole palace behavior a dragon like a Celestial would know. And considering imperial china at the time (and much much earlier) had lots of ancient text about sexuality, i found perfectly reasonable that Mei directly informed him she was going to teach also personally some stuff ...

Wondering if a fun comic could be done on the subject Xd

Lol! This is an amazing work. I was laughing all the time I read this. Lung Qin Mei is like Temeraire's sexy school teacher *kiss Mei's foreleg* ;) Iskierka and the angry hedgehog are priceless.

Yeah exactly xD even if i ever imagined it in some fascinating way.
She was officially assigned to Temeraire as a teacher, to teach him about chinese poetry, history etc....
I DON'T think that Mei is so ineffective to forget about teaching and having sex with Temeraire, just for fun xD
I think that the experiences Temeraire had with Mei were all planned, with Mei approaching him on purpose to teach Tem. about all the dragon chinese lovemaking arts ^^ (something of pretty much more elaborated for sure, comparing with the western "arts").
Something like... "first lesson of the day: chinese history. second lesson: poetry. third lesson: surprise Xp"
Of course all said it pretty and elaborate way xD
PS: i'm currently working on another Temeraire comic, but this time asked by :iconkeizerharm:  x3

'the experiences Temeraire had with Mei were all planned'

That is a subject for speculations and conspiracy. :) For example: Lung Qin Mei could follow orders given by Lung Tien Qian or Lung Tien Lien to motivate Temeraire to stay in China or / also keep him away from his British fellows. :D Though I find the idea to blame Lien in all misadventures of our protagonists quite funny. Surely Lien was a one who burned the ship in Black Powder War and then she gave Iskierka wrong education, and also she sent the sand storm and ate Temeraire's camels and drank his water. :D

"
another Temeraire comic"

Oh, I look forward for it.

Um... honestly i ever saw it as something of not particularly evil-scheduled.
If i'm right in the chinese royal counts there were concubines that had among their duties to make the young princes to learn all the arts of proper lovemaking: and more often they were not simply prostitute but something else.
This doesn't make Mei a "whore" (despite what Iskierka could say!XD) but something of pretty much "total": Mei being a teacher for Temeraire not only about history, poetry, arts, the proper royal-prince etiquette and behavior but ALSO on the mating techniques ..
One have to believe that it's a whole different culture-behavior different from the British..
(and surely different from the terms of judgment of a jelous turkish dragoness)

Haha this was great! I had forgotten about this scene. (dang I really need to re-read these books) I love all your comics, and they always make my day when another one comes out. :D Thanks for the smiles!

I love Temeraire and Mei's discussion at the end, it's priceless. :)

Hehe thank very much x3
It's exactly for this that i love drawing x3

My style isn't great and themes are repetitive, but one should never ends to find something to laugh about x3

Currently i'm working on another pair, both in stage of starting colouring: but none of Temeraire.
One it's about WorldofWarcraft dragon, and another is about Liodens (lions)

But i will also work on :iconkeizerharm: idea x3

A little while ago I went through all of your fan comics once I realized that there were more than I thought, (that's not weird, I swear :)) and all of them are funny, even if I don't understand the references. Actually, I got inspired to go read the books by E.E. Knight because of you, and I still need to do that.

I think it's funny because you somehow capture all the emotions of the characters in just a few facial lines, and you talk about the more sensitive subjects in a hilarious way. I mean, come on, "Angry Hedgehog" is pure gold. :D

Thank you again xD

I may help you if you don't get all the references x3
Another reason for my drawing is also to spread news and knowledge of some specific book or series that i loved.
I'm glad you got interest in Age of Fire! it's one that i discovered not long time ago...
And it really surprised me x3 i could be wrong, but could be the only true series with high-fantasy and full draconic-point of view.
It has some defects (as EVERY series), some slow time in second book, and some rushed writing by author in last book (with typos and grammar mistakes) due lack of proof-editing.
But in the end i loved the series, including the ending that i enjoyed much ^^
And it has a great deal of awesome and cool scenes (both dialogues and battles/events) in addition to interesting characters and a good deal of character developments or surprises.
I've heard also of Wings of Fire (will read that too) but it's less adult and for a lower rating-age of readers, i think...

Awesome. Don't worry about the references (spoilers! :)) Hopefully I can get my hands on those books soon. It will be interesting to read an entire series from a dragon's perspective instead of a human's. I haven't heard of Wings of Fire before, but maybe I'll read that after Age of Fire. Of course I am also impatiently waiting for the ninth Temeraire book, so there is that too. :) Anyways, great work!

For what i understood, Wings of Fire is basically a dragon-only story but settled on similarities with Warriors (probably)
Not to mention that the author is one of the authors of Warrior series.
So we have basically a group of siblings and a background of quarreling clans.

Also Age of Fire have three Siblings as main protagonists, but there is a whole world of kingdoms and nations.
Not to mention the fact that it's dark, very very violent in some point (but realistic! however i warn you that could have sad elements, if you like dragns as me xD) and hints/reference to mature-adult elements (i hate when it's censored in books). The most good quality of Age of Fire is maybe that's not only "point of view" in matters of third-person-narrator following a dragon charactern (both actions and thinking), rather than the human.
BUT it follows also a draconic-point-of-view reguarding the description, the surprise, the reaction to some scenes.
I remember (little exemple, not true spoiler) the aftermath of a battle, with human warriors all celebrating the victory and singing...
In every book (or even movie) we could see this scene as something of big epic celebration: instead we looks it in draconic point-of-view, and the dragon is almost embarassed for his human friend because perceive the song as terrible and the whole celebration as something of pitiful. xD

Ah, yes. The Warrior series. I read the first six books about the cats quite a few years ago, but never got any farther than that. I wonder how this concept will work with dragons.

I LOVE dragons, but I also like it when the violent scenes are actually violent. I'd just rather have realistic descriptions of war than a watered-down version. Haha I also wish that authors did not censor their mature themes so much, but if they didn't they would probably be looked down on by common society, and wouldn't be able to sell as many books. :) People are touchy about that sort of thing, especially when it's not even about humans lol. A new perspective will be refreshing, and I can't wait to see how the author thought a dragon would react to all sorts of situations. It sounds really interesting so far, and I can totally imagine a dragon simply not being impressed with humans' celebration after a battle :D

I need to get to a library or a Barnes and Noble stat.

Well... Warriors in the end is a nice series, if you grow attached to the characters.
It has it's flaws of course (first of all, the repetitive style of behavior minor characters).
But in the end it's nice, even if there it's what most is awesome about censorship of sexuality...
I love to say that Warriors cats make kits just after some purring and stroking together xD

It has been said to be that Wings of Fire has actually some violent scenes, but not mature hints because they're young ones and at best has some crushes.
On the contrary on Age of Fire, sexuality is more explored: in most of the books (ending of book1, book5, implied in book6) it's just a fascinating and sweet element (aerial mating!), with some not-graphic description but good description of feelings of characters during the act.
In others (book3, book4-5-6) there is a good criticism for abuse of sexuality.
In book3 and book6 (and hints here and there on others) there is some humor about sexuality.... and that's what i adore! xD
I've already made a fancomic on the scene in book3 and first or later i will make also the other one...

If i may say my own, personally i view exploration of sexuality in books as something not only hoped for, but strongly needed.
Sex, in all its forms, for love, for fun, for embarass or curiosity,  is an important play in the mind of beings, and cutting them off from books made the books itself unrealistic.
At least that's what i think....

And someone should explain me why cutting it from books when they're often over-portrayed in movies especially when it's unnecessary....

The angry hedgehog :D And I love Temeraire's devious little grin at the end.

What do the < and > mean in the later chat?

And how much does a commission like this cost? Because I would love to see Novik's second Temeraire drabble in your comic style :D

Haha thanks! The < and >  was just to give clue that they're talking in chinese x3
(even if if i'm right they switch to english, but it was to stress the difference of language in the lines of Iskierka, and to make Mei reply in english at Tem. question).

Ooooh i would really love to do it x3
I ask 5$ and is mostly for covering up the time i take to do it, and to help replenishing my founds to get books on kindle xD

Note me for details x3 (i've not yet read the short-stories)
