It was a rumbling and a rustling, like the sweep of a large object, propelled by hurricane force winds- it was distant, but growing steadily louder and louder. It seemed to be coming from the darkened depths of the cavern. It grew to a roar and the sparse, dead flora around Jack was lifted in a sudden gustful gale. A hollow, rattling laugh echoed from the darker portents of the caverns. Darkness was spreading rapidly and unnaturally throughout the hall- the stones were stained with ink, the light from above seemed to flicker and dim, and the once cheery colorful world of the Warren was transformed into a monochromatic lair of shadows. The harsh wind whipped about Jack's bared feet like the breath of a serpentine monster, winding its way through the maze of shadows, lurking just outside of Jack's vision.
