The unique thing about Super Mario Land 2 for the Gameboy is that Fire Mario gains a rather obscure design which is an Indian styled Feather that was only used in this game. It was given this design in the game because it would be hard to tell if Fire Mario changed to the game having no color at all so a feather was added to make it distinctive.
25 Years later, SML2 Fire Mario's "M" emblem actually covers the stem of the feather similar to those turban hats to keep the feather. images.costumes.net/products/3…
This means the feathers steam pokes through the patch of Mario's M emblem to hold the feather up.
Super Mario Land 2 DX came out as a ROM Hack of the original game for the Gameboy Color.
Which contains the usual Fire form now that there is color and actual 1UP Mushrooms. But an alternate patch sometime will have the feather version too and the 1UP Hearts.www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykXVUJ…
I also came up with a unique accessory for the Ice form if it appeared in Super Mario Land 2. Which is a toque styled white ball on top of the cap. I originally thought of a brooch to cover Mario's M but it was unnoticeable so i went with the white toque ball on top of the cap at the closest I could think of. This appearance gives it a nice wintry look.
I even made different designs for the Flowers and the forms.
The Fire and Ice Flowers have the usual designs, the tulips from both Super Mario Land 2 and the first appearing in Super Mario World with both color and monochrome designs.
The Ice Flower was given a unique design styled after a snow flake and also how parkas have fluff around the hoods (which fits). Not only differs the Fire Flower in monochrome style, but also the Tulip Fire Flowers have a more fiery like appearance, then the design they currently have.
