Sometimes I think it would be good to know what you want to do in life, right from the start.
Anyway, here's for the BUMP OF CHICKEN's fans :)

Mako-chan :glomp: Thanks for the comments and fav! Yes, 'Glass no Blues' is a fantastically positive song! Apparently, it's a bit of Fujiwara-san's own story after he dropped out of highschool and set his mind to pursue the career of music - he went to Tokyo alone, do odds jobs, sometimes sleep in the park without food, basking to earn money etc... yet. 'sei-ippai~ uta wo utau'. He's pure and inspiring, so's the song :) Anyway, just for you, I've uploaded "uta wo utau" as print now - [link] Thanks again!!

I get happy by just looking at this drawing! :D
"uta wo utau" = song to sing, to sing a song?
I'm not sure what "wo" particle should stand for, only know that "uta" means 'song' and "utau" 'to sing'.

Re your question "uta wo utau" = song to sing, to sing a song?
It means to sing a song. Example: hon wo yomu (to read a book), sushi wo taberu (to eat sushi), etc :)

Yeah, imagine all the stress and the waste in time (years ^^; ) that goes into finding out what you want to do and ended up too late to change direction etc =D; just to name a few.

ARG THAT is exactly what I'm so scared about... because personally I don't really KNOW what I should go into and I'm so scared to tell anybody because they'd all be so insistent on a particular path.. my parents keep telling me to go into sciences, my friends tell me to go into design, but the truth is I'm still really confused as to what type of lifestyle I would be most compatible with and etc. etc. -_-; Things get really complicated.
I feel guilty too because I've got a teacher and couple friends who are doing a lot for me to help me get things prepared for design and their effort would be somewhat wasted if if I didn't go into it..
>_<" Bleh. XD; Hahahah sorry for ranting so much @_@; I've got issues on this subject.

*pats pats* totally TOTALLY understand how you feel and going through T_T
Go read the description of this - [link] <- I drew that when I was a little kid back in 1991. When I was growing up in Malaysia, I made up my mind to become an artist 'cause I like drawing even before I turned 1 year old. I'd never taken any art lessons yet won all the major prize. All the teachers/friends said that I would surely become a famous artist when I grow up. Then the whole family migrated to Australia when I was a teenager. I had to give up art to concentrate on science/maths due to I need to catch up in improving English (I was fully chinese educated before that) and we're not allowed to take too many subjects. As having asian background, science/maths are always the subjects approved by the elders. ("Artist? See those artists drawing on the street? You'll starve to death!").
Now I still regretting that I did not go ahead and do art-related subjects/career. May not have to be fine art artist, can be in that industry at least. At least I will ENJOY my work and my life.
But then, if I had taken the artist path, I may complain that I should have taken science/maths to have a better income etc. <- that's the saying I say to myself these days to make me feel better... but ^^;
......... SO.

I know I'm not helping you in terms of deciding what to do. Just don't want you to end up becoming like me ^^;
You have to ask yourself, do you really REALLY REALLY love art and design? But on the safe side, even if you pursue to art design path, make sure you also take subjects re business and management too. That should cover all the "what if"s ^^

Good luck, let me know if you like to discuss more. Please think it through properly.

PS: I did that picture and made that comment because fujiwara-san from BUM OF CHICKEN, unlike us, had his mind set on the music career (even though he's not properly trained and his parents disapproved of it). He dropped out of highschool, and went to Tokyo alone. Did many odd jobs including bar tender, sorting out rubbish, etc.. (sometimes had to sleep in the park, and no money to eat).. yet he kept working hard and pursued his dream. You know that song he wrote - "glass no blues" with that inspiring cat?, it's like his story. Why can't we be like him, had a clear goal in life right from the start... hmmm.

Thanks so much Koony, I really appreciated everything you wrote.

Yeah that's pretty much it.. my parents say similar things. I'm not sure if it is completely what they say that is making me doubt what I want to do, I just think it's difficult because I think to be quite honest, I don't really know what I would enjoy doing the most anymore. I used to really want to become a part of the art industry, but now there are so many questions to rise up to the surface. Like "Do I want to be told to do art by a manager?" or like.. "Would I rather do something I enjoy for the rest of my life with an unsteady income and job security? or something that I'll be okay with, which will give me a good income to do art and music as a hobby.." And I don't know if I love art and design all that much to be able to do it as a career. Strange when I ask myself what is it that I would enjoy doing, I just never know how to answer myself. ^^; The one thing I hope is that I won't regret the choice I make because there are too many things I already regret about. ^^;
Another thing is that art courses are usually really expensive, taking into consideration the requirement for a new computer and various programs and textbooks.. lol @_@; Still caught in between though..

And thanks so much again for all that, :heart: I don't mind the rant at all, in fact I thought it was really helpful getting me to think it all over. :glomp:

*nods nods* I still ask these questions to myself even now O_O (hence preventing me to... "change field", that, and time is running out).
It's a pain if you have to be told what to draw, or draw what "sells" and be all commercialized.. I hate that >_<. Plus, in doing so, you don't have an "outlet" anymore. It may makes you dislike drawing. And that's a NO NO!........ I guess with these answers, it really depend on our mood/situation at the time. It would be good to do something that have job security, yet doing art at the side (or possibly can even sell them lol). Whichever way, good luck and all the best! :glomp:
