True art should provoke emotion and thought; kolaboy's The Dying Poet does just that. The acrylic painting which depicts two young androgens' lighthearted reaction to a polyp-like mass in a specimen jar is mentally, visually, and spiritually stirring. Subtle colors highlight almost reverent imagery. This dark look into an alternative reality should not be missed. (by kidd) (Selected by $mikeylove) ( Featured by MikeyLove )

The contrast of the simple room and the face in the jar is so.. compelling, it makes me study the piece again and again looking for connections. The varied expressions on the girls' faces, scorn and disbelief, are so indifferent of the figure in the jar and the cards convey so much subjective meaning. Beautiful.

Magical work.

Out of a thousand possible comments, I'll just say that the Technetium creature reminds me a bit of St. Leila's space-suit. :)

I love the darkness in this; it's subtle. You should make this available for prints. I'd buy one.

This painting is ingenious. Your subject matter is always interesting but beyond that is your use of color. I am fascinated by your use of color in this... the faces, they look like you made black and white without actually using black first of all and the red and blue hues on their skin is just beautiful. I LOVE these colors. And the pencils in the shape of the cross really move me. The whole thing is incredibly inspiring. I am adding this to my favorites.

YOU just EXCEEDED everything I had anticipated... The pencil...

I am way too stimulated by your work right now, I actually need to stoip looking at it. You took me, shook me and now I'm tired.

I don't get it but then, I don't know squat about religious symbolism. However, I would be interested in knowing more about your technique. I don't suppose you'd be willing to explain some of your painting secrets?

Umm... it seems like they cooked something and it's stinking... hehehehe. :D (Big Grin)
Maybe they cooked the poet? *L*

Shit, the head inside the pot is really well "hidden" up to now i thought it was a body of the little head above the liquid... stupid me Stupid Me!

Err, i thing i become to be in love with the smaller chick... your characters are always so disturbing ;) (Wink)

guilt and shame.
Not for the first time, you give me more than I expected and deserved.
I love the expression of the sitting girl, I can feel her sadness. And what is the little devil behind thinking about? I wish I could finish things I started, not to be stopped in half and defeated by my own ignorrance... The road to hell is full of good intentions. Why all the beauty have to die under the pile of our lives?

Thanks for the opportunity to fave.

Poetry is an orphan of silence. The words never quite equal the experience behind them.
No, poet, no artist of any form, has his complete meaning alone. His significance, his appreciation is the appreciation of his relation to the dead poets and artists.

Re: mail. Sorry Iíve been busyÖ you know me; busy, busy. However Iím slowly painting less and less which should be good for my psychological well-being. Itís scary not being able to escape back to it but I think an interval will do some good.
So Iíve been hiding out in coffee houses staying away from the studio.

Wow, is that a powerful image, sooo powerful. It's repelling but drawing in at the same time, like the painting is a force. The meaning is plucked from our heads and we are left speechless, trying to remember what it is. It makes my mind tickle with all the thoughts of what are going on in this picture. I can't describe how much this kicks rocks! Roar!

This is disturbing, yet enthralling. You're amazing.

Everything fits so well together, albeit unnaturally. This is just...stunning. I can't keep my eyes off the cross pencil. It's so full of symbolism. And the half hand...

totally awesome. the colors are astounding and teh level of detail unnerving. i though this was a photo manip before taking a closer look. my favorite part is definitly the bloody pencil dagger. i think its that which carries the emssage the best.
jellycious Featured By Owner Jun 24, 2003
oh wow, this is really astounding..
i just dig those pale skin, and little dull pinks in it.
the colors are vibrant, paired with more dull ones, makes it very interesting, and adds emphasis on the things that should have it.
i dig the water splatter too... :) (Smile)

Thumbs Up
