Guardian Ch. 01
Anastasia felt her grip tighten on the steering wheel as she listened to Brother Dominic talk about how things were going at the church. Ever since he entered the car, his mouth hadn't stopped moving.
"Annie, am I bothering you?" Dominic asked, noticing her white knuckles on the wheel.
She forced a smile, keeping her eyes on the road. "No, of course not," she said. This was the third day in a row she was asked to drive him around for chores. His car was in the shop and the church van used too much gas for daily use.
He sighed, "I'm sorry I'm causing you so much trouble. I know you want nothing to do with the church anymore..." He saw her glance at him for a moment. "Sister Margaret says she has a box of your old things if you'd like to stop in for a moment when we return..."
"Would you bring them to me?" She shifted slightly, just thinking of actually going back in the church and facing all the priests made her uncomfortable.
