I got a flash of ambition over the weekend as I got into the finishing stages of working on my girlfriend's 4.0 Jeep engine.  It is crazy what inspires my artwork or what inspires me to change it.  As of right now, I am in the process of making more refined and detailed UV maps for my Lexington class battlecarrier.  If all goes well, I will use the new object files (that I am doing as individual parts: engines, Stellar Warp nacelles, PHELAC turret, I-Field generator, etc.) to redo ALL of the ships of that type.  If I like how they come out, I will begin the process of redoing ALL of the UV maps of my ships. :)
I have removed all of my non-Nexus Arcana artwork (Macross Side Story, and Code Geass) because too many people were using it for online Role Playing Games.  That is not what that artwork was for.  Since I was not being given credit for the artwork, I have deleted it.
I didn't mind the people that were using it and linking to my Deviantart page here, but too many were just taking it, making new stats for it, and not giving me proper credit.
Therefore, it is gone and I will now only be uploading Nexus Arcana works.
As for those works.
If I find those on RPG or other sites with new stats and/or non-authorized use, I will send the ISP of the website a cease and desist order.
I hate having to do this, but too many people were taking my artwork without giving me credit.
  1. How long have you been on DeviantArt?  4 years (lurked for 2), then finally took the plunge and started uploading my artwork.

  2. What does your username mean? This is my professional pseudoname (Pen Name) that I publish all my works under.  Compendium %20background by Kodai-Okuda

  3. Describe yourself in three words. Mean, Suspicous, and Vengeful (that's an old Palladium RPG joke :D (Big Grin) )

  4. Are you left or right handed? Ambidextrous

  5. What was your first deviation? My first deviations were of a Macross Side Story project I did for an online Palladium based group.…

  6. What is your favourite type of art to create? That is a tough question.  I love to write, I love to draw, I love to paint, and I love 3D digital artwork.  However, the 3D makes money so I'll go with that. ;) (Wink)

  7. If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be? Manga art.  I would love to be able to do manga properly like the ladies from CLAMP.

  8. What was your first favourite? My first favorite was the SR-71 Blackbird.  I saw one up close at an airshow and it was love at first sight. :D (Big Grin)

  9. What type of art do you tend to favourite the most? Art that improves on what has come before it.  I don't care if it is similar, I care about how it makes the original look even better.  An example would be Puffinstudios NX-01.  He did an amazing job of improving on the concept of the first starship Enterprise and that is the kind of thing that catches my eye.  ChileTrek is another artist I follow on here because he can do outstanding work at very low-poly counts.  There is also this guy named unusualsuspex that I follow, his textures and meshes are amazing. ;) (Wink)

  10. Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist? Don Gaiser (Xarno on here).

  11. If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be? I have no idea, there are so many people here I'd like to meet.

  12. How has a fellow deviant impacted your life? They give me inspiration and support when I am in a slump or going through a rough patch (I just had surgery and many were supportive).

  13. What are your preferred tools to create art? Photoshop, Lightwave, zBrush, and Maya (though Maya tends to irritate me. :D (Big Grin) ).

  14. What is the most inspirational place for you to create art? In my head. :D (Big Grin)

  15. What is your favourite DeviantArt memory? Crossing the 10,000 views mark. :) (Smile)

I have recently found my artwork on a variety of other websites (mostly RPG sites) being used without giving me full credit or referencing where these ships come from.
Understand this.
My artwork is not for anything other than personal enjoyment on your private computer.
It is here to promote my science fiction novel series.
Yesod Publications llc, owns the trademark "Nexus Arcana" and all related works are copyright 2005.
Anyone wishing to use any of my artwork for their RPG site may contact me here and seek permission.
However, DO NOT USE this artwork without linking to the Nexus Arcana website:

And give full credit to me--Kodai Okuda--for the creation of said works.

Thank you for your cooperation.
Nearly finished with the United States Space Navy.
Just one more 3D image left and they're done.
That ship is the Saturn Class space frigate.
I'm going to use LightWave 11.5 for that one and see what I can do with my newly acquired skills using the modeler and layout of that software.
Hopefully, with some UV tweaking, I can make it look video-game quality as I'm not going for full-on realistic/movie quality looks for these images.
Most of the images have to be "low-resolution" for the Amazon Kindle Gen 8 software to be able handling the compiling process of making an ebook with them.
However, I like the challenge of having to keep the polygon count low while also trying to make these images look good.
It's not easy.
I'm posting this to let my friends, fans and lurkers who pass by my gallery know, that on occasion I will be uploading some of my favorite images by other artists (I'll make a folder for this later today).
These images will range from works by Chris Foss, to H.R. Gieger, to Leiji Matsumoto and Shiro Kawamori.  I am a die hard SF art fanatic and writer and would love to share some of the artwork I have by other artists.
However, I will keep my fanboyism to a minimum. ;)
Began work on a 3D "Ship-Size-Comparison" Chart for the LaGrange Space Forces.  Won't be done for quite awhile since I'm also trying to finish the USSN by the end of April.
After that I will begin work on both finishing the EFR fleet and starting the enemy forces: UNSC (United Nations Space Corps), Ceres Regency, United Nations Solar Empire.
I have begun the slow, tedious process of converting my ink and paper drawings to 3D digital format via Lightwave.
I nearly have my first one done.
Hopefully, it will be up to par with my hand drawn and colored artwork. :)
Today is the first and last day of this journal...who do you think I am, Anne Frank?
