USS Kiev Data Sheet by Kodai-Okuda USS Kiev Data Sheet by Kodai-Okuda
This is my version of the USS Korolev class and is a mixture of the JJ-Abrams type ships and Axanar versions only mine is from the STE era (Star Trek Enterprise).
The Kiev Class was made for the 4-years War and was simply a Phase-II refit of the Korolev class.

Very aggressive!

Quick question, why don't you put additional phaser banks on the ventral soccer?

Thank you. :D

There are three dual phaser banks on both the dorsal and ventral saucer for a total of six banks forward or 12-phasers.
The other two "dark" areas (1 port, 1 starboard) are docking ports for shuttle-pods and worker bees.
If you look at the side-view of the ship you can see a pair of rectangular lights at each port (just below the bridge section on the side-view).
If you look at the top-view, the phaser banks are located at the 45-degree, 90-degree, and 135-degree positions with zero/north being the port/top warp nacelle tip (approximately).

Fair enough, but for a few of the previous ship you had five dual phaser banks on the dorsal saucer, and only three on the ventral.  There's nothing wrong with it, its just, why on mirror the dorsal and ventral phaser banks?

Sorry, I just really like symmetry on ships.

Only the ships that do not have the extended secondary hulls use the aft-firing phaser banks on the saucer on top because they have a clear firing arc to the rear.  Whereas on this ship the raised secondary hull extension is in the way of any phasers, same with the ventral phasers due to either the secondary hull and/or warp nacelles.
Nothing to be sorry about, I like the questions as they give me a chance to explain the thinking that goes into all of my designs (Star Trek or Nexus Arcana). :)

Hello:
You sure made it fit with your style! :la: , I just hope you won't get people asking why your version has a full saucer ;) .

Hi Chiletrek,

Thank you.
No partial-saucer on my version so that it is clear it is my version, and I wanted it to mimic a Earth-Romulan War era ship that has been refit.
To do that I had to go to Star Trek Legacy to see what they thought ships of that era should look like.
That left me with the Poseidon class destroyer.

And the Minuteman class destroyer:

I used minor elements of both to help make my ship more "original" and not just a clone of the Axanar/Kelvin-Timeline versions.

Hello:
You did well and I did also notice it has 2 deflector dishes, so it is indeed a ship that is up to stuff ;) .

The Minuteman class looks very cute, and it has elements that would make me recall the Excelsior and Oberth classes, so that's quite interesting!

Hi Chiletrek,

Thank you.
Two deflectors are to facilitate the multi-layers deflector shielding.
The Minuteman is supposed to be a Daedalus class-type of ship I think.  I have Star Trek Legacy and it seems to fit that role.

Hello:
 You are welcome :) .

Ohh, so indeed a ship more geared for combat... or for exploring more hazardous places.

The Minuteman looks better than the Daedalus if you ask me, I like the details and shapes it has as it looks basic but still complex and having it's own style.

Hi Chiletrek,

Yes, this ship (just like Miranda type Heavy Frigates/Lt. Cruisers) can double as science vessels.

I agree.  The Minuteman is a better looking ship. :)

Hello:
If ships are able to perform several types of duties then that can extend the life service as they become more needed than pruerly-specialized ships.

On a different topic: I just completed retouching and totally-updating tmy model of the SDF-4 :D .

Hi Chiletrek,

That's the general idea behind Franz Joseph's concepts for starships in the old Federation Technical Manual which is one of the resources I'm using.

I look forward to seeing your SDF-04.
I need to get back to my own ships as soon as I finish the Federation fleet (four more ships to go).
