Klingon Bat Leth Sword of Honor Data sheet by Kodai-Okuda Klingon Bat Leth Sword of Honor Data sheet by Kodai-Okuda
The D-3 as the Federation classified it, was the most successful Klingon "cruiser" of the early 22nd Century.  Built as part of the Klingon upgrade program of the 2090s (Earth Relative) to replace their fleet of gigantic, slow, venerable conquest fleet (Star Trek Discovery style ships), the Bat'Leth was built in huge numbers.  It was small, compact, powerful, fast, and had modestly effective armor and deflectors for the time it was built.  The D-3 was one of the main warships the Federation faced during the 4-years war, and it was effective against most Federation starships.  It was superior to nearly every early 22nd Century Federation design and equal to an Archon class starship in terms of firepower, speed, and defenses.

I can see how this can be related to the Klingon Bird of Pray from Star Trek 3.

Thank you.
I want a slow, steady progression from the Klingon Dueler to the Romlulan influenced Bird of Pray so I am incorporating parts from the BoP, D7, K'Tinga, and other Klingon ships from FASA and official and semi-official (licensed) sources.
Hopefully, once I get to the BoP, it will look like a steady evolution.

Fair enough, though I've never been the biggest fan of the Klingon ship design...

If you mean the Bird of Prey, I agree.  It lacks a proper-warp nacelle and the idea that the warp engine is internal does not fly well with me.
I will be changing that concept for my Bird of Prey and changed the "wings" into a pair of wing-shaped warp-nacelles (shape will be the same, but I will be adding exhaust vents, warp field emitters, etc.).
The cloaking device for it is a must, but for my Apocryphal Star Trek Classic Universe I will be restricting the cloaking device to only Romluan ships until the BoP of ST:3.  None of my Klingon ships will have a cloaking device until that time frame.

Well I've never been a fan of any of the Klingon ship.  But that's just my taste....

I see.
I like them, but not the Star Trek Discontinuity Klingorc ships.  Those have no place in Star Trek as they are far too removed from the established aesthetic.

From what little I've seen, and all I've heard, All of STD's ships can go to the garbage bin.....

They're horrid, even the Federation ships.
