Journal Update
    January 2017
As the sun has set on another year I thought I'd spend some time going over my efforts here at DA and re-do those images worthy of being dubbed "Best of 2016".
I want to thank all who have visited here and had some nice things to say along the way.  Also, the "Watchers" list has grown considerably during the year, some of whom are truly accomplished in their fields, and that makes it all worthwhile.  I would be more than happy to accept any images from DA Members which I would render in my own little way and return to the contributor with my thanks.  As a hobbyist, I just enjoy doing this sort of thing from time to time.
That's about it for now.  Wishing all a great New Year.

About 20 years ago I developed a liking for the classic glamor portrait.  Back then I even shot a few rolls from my trusty Pentax (long since retired) of several trusting female friends. While these images will never see the light of day here (promises made then are promises kept now), it was fun, a little sexy, and sort of a confidence builder. This has evolved over time into more fetish-oriented themes. So I studied photographic techniques (still using the Pentax) and browsed the (then) new Web and various movie genres’ (horror; thrillers; fantasy; and adult stuff) to get ideas. But I never had the time to invest in what can be a resource hog.

After the development of many film editing software products in the 1990’s and thereafter, I then started enhancing and refining images.

Since retiring a couple of years ago, I finally found the time to purchase and train on a digital SLR, which to this day still provides some surprises and mysteries. The Canon EOS is a good product so now might be the time to finally create a decent folio.  So this summer I’ll pack my bags and travel to a few conventions that provide photo-shoot opportunities and see what I can do.

So, that’s the plan.  Meanwhile, any feedback on what is offered here would help me along. Many of the images were taken from several video productions I commissioned from dedicated but small-time operators out there.  Others are mostly older images needing some tender loving care and freely available in various forums. Some may be restricted in some way but I have been careful to avoid any property-rights issues. If I failed to do this with any image please let me know.  You folks are a helluva lot smarter about this stuff than me.

Finally, I would welcome any suggestions on worthy conventions and shoots out there where a passionate digital beginner would have the best environment to further a hobby and refine techniques.  I’ll compensate model shoots at a fair rate and hopefully learn from them as I go along.

Of course, input from anyone out there- models, photographers, digital artists- would be a nice bonus.

That’s it. Thanks for reading.

Enjoy.

Your photographs are really quite good, but I am interested in knowing why you choose to photo-shop them the way you do.  The effects you create are absolutely unique but would like to know more about your approach.

I cannot help but notice that you didn't answer jsmar666 below, I hope you will respond to this.  My inquiry is in no way negative, simply curious as to your thought processes as a photographer.

Hello J131
As my Journal notes, many of these images are renderings (using Corel Paintshop Pro X9) from video projects I have commissioned over the years, the first of which was back around 1999 or 2000. I need to note on my page those original photos I have taken and also rendered here.  I will endeavor to do so in the future. Those were based on amateur "models" who happened to be friends of mine and did a few sittings many years ago.  The original photos of those were a bit grainy, so I decided to try and re-do them.  Not satisfied with just an "improved" photo result, I experimented (and still do) with various textures, some as simple as halftones, and others more exotic.  Usually the original is a video-capture or screenshot from these commissioned works and other sources.
As far as not responding to various posts, some negative and some positive, it comes down to time and other things. Of course I prefer positive feedback but if my efforts were "liked" by all than the world would be a pretty dull place. My "style" is my own and my likes are my own.  If others enjoy this that's a bonus.  If they don't they can tune in to thousands of other creative folks on DA, most of whom have forgotten more about true digital enhancement than I will ever know.
As a final note, I would be happy to render any of your images, post it here with a link to you, and then supply you with a reasonable detailed accounting of what filters and schemes I used.
Thanks for your interest.

Thank you for a very thoughtful and thorough response to my question.   I really appreciate you taking the time to do so.    And, while some of your photo enhancements are not to my personal taste, they are very well done,.   You need not apologize and you need not take a back seat to anyone.   You have a unique and very powerful artistic voice.

Whats the point of using the strange filters on the images? You're ruining the images, imo.
