Rogue Taxidermy Stamp by Knuxtiger4 Rogue Taxidermy Stamp by Knuxtiger4
Made a quick Rogue Taxidermy Stamp with one of my many images of Mirage.

For people who don't understand what rogue taxidermy is:

"Rogue taxidermy is the creation of stuffed animals which do not have real, live counterparts. Many taxidermist do not consider this true taxidermy. They may represent unrealistic hybrids such as the jackalope and the skvader, extinct species, mythical creatures such as dragons, chimeras, griffins, unicorns or mermaids, or may be entirely of the maker's imagination. Some are made from parts of more than one kind of animal, or they may be artificially created."

Basically rogue taxidermist create mythical creature or creatures from imagination. Sadly most people think they are novelties and don't consider them art or taxidermy. I think that it is art and taxidermy all together because it takes work to make something that's not a real animal, look real. I'm not going to do as my rogue taxidermy but I want to try to make more creatures like my hellhound one day.

People who are considering it, really need to read up on how to do taxidermy and talk to the experts and learn facts and such. This is not something anyone can do and have good results, it takes facts, knowledge and skill to do such a piece. Really you should do rigid mounts before considering do a rogue taxidermy piece. (I didn't do that, but I'm going to do a few rigid mounts myself.)

I hope people use this stamp. =)

And a disclaimer:
I do not hunt the animals I use. I purchase them from other taxidermist who have taken the animal legally or had died of natural cause or other various ways. And no, they are not "skinned alive" either. I do respect what I use and have that are animal pelts or parts.

Taxidermy is a very difficult thing to learn and practice - but there are some very nice videos about this on yt
Imo taxidermy is art too - I´ve seen some bad ones but most of them are better than a photo or drawing of an animal
it shows everything! (I´ve seen a very nice fish taxidermy too)
just look through the internet....

rogue taxidermy is a bit special tho - I saw some really bad ones in a museum once but there are so many
I have never seen :D Amazing work and it can be funny too : like here…

greets from Austria!

It can be a work of art, rouge taxidermy.
Heck, the museum here in Adelaide has it's own Chimera skeleton… :)

It is, yeah
i can pick out about 3 possibly 4 animals that make it up. The body looks kangaroo. The wings are obviously bird. The head fish. The neck, I'd be inclined to say looks like a snake's vertebra

Imagine it with skin and muscles!!!
I consider taxidermy to be art as it is, but rogue taxidermy sounds a lot cooler. I'd say anything that requires a lot of effort and creativity can be considered art, and recreating something that's either extinct or never existed has got to take a lot of creativity when you have to put different animals parts together.

And wait, you're the one who made that Hellhound? I think I favourited some photos of it a while back but I don't think to see who the creator was. ^^; I gotta say, impressive work. <3

Thank you for the compliment! <3

And indeed, I made the hellhound.  You might have faved some other photos I've taken of her since completing her.
Welcome. ^^

It's possible. I've always been fascinated by taxidermy in general, but I've been kind of nuts about it lately. Hence how I found this stamp. XD
*didn't, not don't. OTZ

I like the idea of rogue taxidermy. You don't have to be limited to what animal that the piece(s) came from and just let your imagination take off. One of these days I would love to try my hand at it, including the official taxidermy.

Its a lot of fun because you get to be creative with it and that there no limits as one would put it. ouo I found it more enjoyable since I was able to throw in some of my sculpture skills.
