Word Magic

Ah, the words, their lovely sound
weaving, weaving, round and round
oh and ah and eh and ee
keeping pleasant company
moving through the beat of time
magic in their lovely rhyme.
Assonance you are my friend,
Binding things until the end.

Ah, the words, their lovely sound
weaving, weaving, round and round,
t and r and s and p
strong sounds like an ancient tree,
your beat resounds into the night
to carry meaning to my sight,
Alliteration strong and true
makes the sounds do what they do.

Ah the words, their lovely sound
weaving, weaving, round and round,
Rhythm, made of pause and stress,
laughing child with golden tress,
you bring the magic dance to frame
meaning in its golden game,
Ah the words, their lovely sound
weaving, weaving round and round.

Sing of love or sing of pain,
Sing of laughter in the rain,
Sing of hope or sing a groan,
Magic's in the word's own tone,
Weave a dream by candlelight,
Spin a nightmare in our sight,
Ah, the words, their lovely sound
Make it happen, round and round..
Oh no! I wrote something in rhymed couplets!

This is sort of something that sounds like a cross between an ode to the poetic power of words and a spell for poetic power...LOL. Hard to believe that I figured out how to put Alliteration as a word into a poem...

Reading this poem aloud would make a good warming up exercise for actors and other speakers.

This all started because I wanted to write an essay on poetics...instead, I wrote a poem...LOL.
LOL it was a very lovely ode or poem...:D
It's surprising that you could fit Alliteration in there, wonderful though. It's also a very creative piece. Still looking forward to that Sess/Rin story. :D

LOL on the Sessh/Rin story. I haven't even started it yet...seems like the myth stuff has grabbed me for a little while while the Inu muse mostly goes on vacation...but it's not forgotten.
I know what you mean. I'm supposed to do a few things, and half of the stories I've written so far are waiting for an update. It's nice though when people remind me to write their favorite story, because somehow it makes it easier for me to write it. Though I have some very patient reviewers. LOL

LOL. I hear that...sometimes, the muses go and play...and other muses pop in to play with you instead....but I was writing non-stop InuYasha ficts, usually 4 or 5 a week for over a year...and I think they needed a vacation...or needed to go find new things to say...or I needed a breather for some of the other things running in my head or something...I'm not done with Inu, I am pretty sure...but I needed a recharge.
