"Pie?" he said, walking into the kitchen.  The air was warm like the oven was on, and smelled of fruit and spice and hot metal.

She turned towards him and nodded.   Her green apron was dusted white and there was a small scattering of it on the floor by her feet.  She smiled, rolling pin in hand, a light dusting of flour on her nose.  "Only if you're good.  Peach pie."

He walked up to her, wiped the flour off her nose, and kissed it for good measure.  "I'm always good," he replied.

"Not if you make me tear this pie crust."  She kissed his chin.  "If I do, then it's TV dinners and no dessert."

He held up his hands in surrender.  "Far be it from me to disturb the cook," he replied, but stole a kiss before he left.

She snorted, and turned back to her pie dough.

Dinner was TV dinners and peach pie.  But the pie was rather good, and he was well rewarded for not saying the wrong thing.
He and She and the joys of cooking.

i want peach pie!!

they did a study a while ago (i saw it on a documentary, i think sometime in the 80's) about scents that will act like an aphrodisiac for men -- i believe the number one scent is fresh baked cinnamon buns. =p

The very best peach pie I ever ate is made by slicing fresh peaches into orange juice concentrate...oh wow...

We'll get peaches from a peach stand, usually at least half a bushel, sometimes more counting how ambitious we feel (I really like the late peaches like O. Henrys for this), scald them to take off the skins, slice them into orange concentrate, enough peaches so they're all covered well by the concentrate, enough so they're not too runny, and freeze them; if I remember correctly, 4 cups of peach/orange mix per pie. We'll freeze them so we have pie makings all winter long....

But it's hubby who makes the pie crust. I hate rolling crust out, and he likes to.
