beautiful! i'm looking for a good setting for my western romance and i've been pouring over different state histories. the problem? they don't hire photographers! how can i describe a landscape that i can't see? my hero will be raising horses, so i've been sticking to states that had large mustang and wild horse populations. this is lovely.
Tell me where you are thinking about, and I bet I can find pics...and maybe historical sources.
I know a lot about the intermountain west, and a moderately good bit about its history, especially up to and through the Oregon trail period, but also stuff afterwards as well.

debating between Wyoming and Montana. can't decide which though. and oddly my uncles that seem to make it a habit of moving throughout the west haven't' hit either of those states yet.

i was thinking around 1880-1885 ish. i didn't want too early so that any nearby larger cities out west could be equipped with running hot water!
Even the 1880s might be a little early for some of the cities to have running water, but I am not exactly sure...there was a lot of money running in some of the mining towns...
