Trichotillomania by knirket Trichotillomania by knirket
It is nothing to be ashamed of. Trichotillomania.
I've been struggling with it since I was 11 years young, or even younger. Today it only affects my eyelashes, but it used to be worse, although I never touched the hair on my head.

I have my "fits" and then my eyelashes are annihilated. The feeling I get when I see more than 3 hairs between my fingers in one pull... It's priceless.

I wish I could stop, and I try. But it is not something I do intentionally, I just "wake up" and the lashes are gone. Darn :s

My goodness, me too! The older I get, the more I meet people who suffer too. I felt so alone when I was younger. I pull my lashes, brows, hair, everything to the point I have actually shaved off all my hair. This is so powerful. :)

Wow, I don't know what to say. I can't say I am happy that you struggle with it too, but of course it's neat to not be "alone", as you say :) I haven't met anyone yet, who has the same problem. I have only seen one, at an OCD-meeting with my ex many years ago (he had huuuuge issues with OCD... Yikes). She basically had to shave her head cause it was that bad. She didn't touch hair other places though. It is very powerful. It controls itself, and there you are... Suprised again. Where did my hair go?? Hehe..

Yeah that is pretty much how it is. Heh. It's weird to think I went so long without meeting another and now I know about 10 people with it. I think the reason behind that is that people are too embarrassed to talk about it and that's why not many people know about the disorder, which is why this piece by you is so important and powerful. :)
