Princess Ariel, or Ariel as her friends call her, is a resident engine on the fictional Glamorgan Vale railway line. Her main duties include pulling the railway's express line, though she will accept other duties with grace if she has to.
Ariel was brought into service in the LMS line on November 11th 1935, the 12th in the LMS Princess Royal Class. Her full name is actually Princess Ariel, though she usually goes simply by 'Ariel' for short. Unlike the other Princess Royals, her name does not come from an existing royal or noble figure, but rather from the daughter of the foreman at the works where she was built, because to him his daughter

It goes without saying that the Roaring 20's brought good business to Bigg City Harbor. Large ocean liners from prestigious shipping lines were flocking here to drop off passengers, pick up new ones, and leave, making room for more. The ocean liners made for good business for us Star Tugs. For despite the fierce competition from our rival fleet, the Z-Stacks, we managed to keep the fleet going strong.
It goes without saying that I was well accustomed to the normal routine. Bring the ocean liners into port, where the harbor tugs and the switchers would come to assist. We would bring her in nice and steady. Then, when she had refueled,
