Description
Yang stares with a nervous shiver at the stationary slime minions a distance from her. She knows Sonya said to not worry since they’re not even moving or active due to being cut off from their master’s supply of slime water. And also as long as it doesn’t rain or splash water on them to make them active again.
Yang recalling how she and Sonya had to support a Riolu wearing a mask when it suddenly started to rain and the ones stationary in the rain suddenly woke up and started attacking those close by. The rain stopped of course and they went back to standing still, that still doesn’t mean Yang can’t be worried they might act up somehow as she watches her Sylveon teammate concerned from her position.
Said teammate insisting on coming here to participate in figuring out which moves would be effective on the slime minions.
Marshtoids, she believes they call them now.
Even if they won’t be fighting the slime witch, a tough decision on Sonya’s part since she hates not being in the front to help fight, they deemed it the best for both of them to remain far from fighting Gilgamarsh due to their history with witches.
So to at least help in a small way, Sonya insisted they come here to Fever Flats to help in figuring how to keep this Marshtoids at bay while others focus on Marshy.
Even if they aren’t a threat at the moment, Yang still watches anxiously as her teammate stands in front of two of them seeming to be contemplating something.
Sonya herself stands before a Goomy and Sliggoo Marshtoid that she hasn’t destroyed, yet anyway. She has a frown on with a thoughtful look on her face staring down the Marshtoids with a small glare.
“What have we seen so far that’s effective?” She mumbles out loud, recalling a few other teams that were testing out their own moves on what Marshtoids were stationary here.
Recalling a few other teams and the moves they used on them, as well as when they helped a masked Riolu a little while ago.
“The usual are effective against these things, Ice and Fairy so I’ve seen.” Sonya continues to mumble out loud, one of her feelers tapping her chin. “I’ve also seen some electric type moves do some good damage or at least stop them in their tracks for a bit. They are partially made of water and not living creatures so that’s useful to know too. Even so, they’re not that strong and usually one good hit, effective or not, can take them down easily enough.”
She sighs softly. “But if one grabs you, its not easy to shake it off with its slimy body and the fact one gets you another isn’t far behind. What they make up for in being physically weak, is their numbers.” She then growls softly. “Not to mention Fairy types like me shouldn’t touch them too much should we somehow get poisoned since they’re basically walking poison slime balls. So my Iron Tail might help to at least avoid me being poisoned. The problem right now, is their numbers.”
She looks downward, her face scrunched up in intense thought. “How can we get rid of more than one of them at a time? Or is there at least a way to slow them down as a group instead of individually?”
“S-Sonya.”
Sonya’s broken out of her thoughts at the yell of her Mienfoo teammate. She turns her head and looks over, her ears raising up as her soothe bell rings out softly in a high pitch tune.
The Mienfoo walking a little closer to her location but still keeps a safe distance.
“Y-You’ve been at this for a while now. M-Maybe it’s time for a break?”
Sonya sighs again, her ears lowering and closes her eyes as she relaxes. Then opening them her ears raise up once more ringing her bell as she smiles softly to her teammate. “Maybe your right. I have been at this for a while and we have found a lot of good info for now.”
Yang smiles nodding to her. She’s about to walk forward, only to look behind her teammate curiously and stop looking surprised. “S-Sonya??” Yang says in surprise pointing behind her.
Sonya looks alarmed, thinking one of the Marshtoids suddenly become active somehow and turns crouched ready. Only to look surprised at her teammate that instead of active like she thought, the Goomy and Sliggoo Marshtoid are actually the opposite.
They almost seem, like they’re deflating somehow. They give off weak hisses and gurgles as the Goomy looking creature sinks to the ground like a deflated balloon. The Sliggoo one wilting downward like a dead weed.
Sonya looks curious and confused at this. “How did that happened? I didn’t do anything.” She says and turns to look at Yang, her bell once more ringing out.
Yang holding up her paws to signal she didn’t do anything either. Yet the two look as the creatures only further to sink and almost dissolve in the ground with more gurgled groans.
Sonya narrows her eyes thinking quickly, only to gasp in realization looking to her ear where her soothe bell is at.
“My bell?” She says confused. “How is it—“
She gasps again as realization of the situation hits her hard. One of her moves she hasn’t used yet due to the fact it’s not a move used for fighting.
She looks determined and cautiously curious, looking to the two for a bit as they begin to inflate back up and return to their normal stationary state as time passes. Once they’re ‘normal’ again, she raises her ear and concentrates.
Using Heal Bell as the soft tone of her bell echoes out around her and the area she’s at.
As it does, suddenly the two Marshtoids shriek out almost like in pain and start to deflate at a quicker rate than before. Not disappearing or killed off like a physical attack would, but it does seem to weaken them further and keep them in place.
Sonya acts quickly, readying a Shadow Ball next and sends it right in front of the two on the ground. The explosion catching the two which explode from the shock and in their further weakened state, leaving a mess of purple and green goo.
Yang looks surprised then interested at all that Sonya did. Sonya herself smirking at a new possibility they uncovered by accident.
“Well, they are walking diseases basically. I guess it makes some sense healing moves would weaken and slow them down.” Sonya says turning to look at her teammate. “It doesn’t destroy them like a regular attack does, but if theres a large number of them, I think we found a way to stop a decent size group of them from progressing if it calls for it.”
Yang nods in agreement smiling. “W-We should tell the others.”
“Soon.” Sonya says as she eyeballs another group of stationary Marshtoids nearby. “Lets test out first if I’m right and how many in a group we can slow down.”

App. Team Pathfinders
This is late I know but just wanted to throw the idea out there that even healing moves can slow down the marshtoids. If its not ok then I'll change it but if it is I'll be using this idea for later in Chapter 5.
I also reference a part of Team Rainfall's story in this one. It gave good insight for the Marshtoids and I wanted to also use them as cameos in thanks for them using my own for their story. Hope that's ok ^_^
