Markus is Yangs father. A very sturdy Lucario that was an orphan. His parents either abandon him or were killed, he doesn't really know. He spent most of his life living on his own as a traveling thief until finally arriving in Xin Tou, where he met Lien and another friend at her family's dojo.
At first he was rejected and almost imprisoned due to trying to steal some valuables from the dojo, but Lien asked to pardon him in exchange he work at the dojo instead. Rather than being put in prison, Markus agreed and started working as a helping hand at the dojo.
For a time he was kinda annoyed all he was doing was errands and cleaning, then he started to become close to Lien and his other friend named Reggie. Though he was a thief, Reggie and Lien were interested in his perspective on living his life how he wants and to be free to choose how he lives it. They soon started becoming close, but Lien still had some skepticism on if he can be fully trusted. An attack by a group of thieves on the dojo because of how small it was proved he was their true friend when he helped defend it alongside them.
He soon became a student for his good deed and studied with Lien and Reggie. Few years later he finally confessed to Lien and after she became the new Grand Master, they married and soon had Yang.
He took in the surname of Lien since he never knew his family origins and has been content being a master at the dojo alongside her and teaching Yang what he has learned.
Yang doesn't know what became of him either. She has no idea if he or her mother are alive or dead.

His right arm and shoulder are injured due to a past battle that left a visible scar along with an injury to his shoulder that can cause him bad pain when irritated. Hence why it's wrapped. And also the reason the end of this tail is cut off.
