Since October 1st, 2007, i've been working as a Document Conversion Specialist for the National Adult Literacy Database (NALD). NALD is a not-for-profit organisation and doesn't pay much, but its a job that i enjoy and can finally sort of use my french degree for. Basically, the job entails converting hard copy and pdf documents into W3C XHTML1.0 Strict (accessable to the blind) web page documents and making the original pdfs (adobe files) accessable. The documents are generally research and/or leaning documents, in English and French, designed to assist persons with literacy skill deficiencies to improve those basic skills in order to improve their employability (the documents teach adults to read and write better so they can get and keep jobs).
So needless to say, i'm no longer working for Starbucks, although it was fun for that couple of months (i now drink mainly Starbucks coffee cuz i'm addicted).
During the nice relaxing Holiday Break i actually got this year (unlike last year when i had to goto work in a hellish call center on Christmas Day and most of the surrounding days only to be laid off on week 2 of the new year by those cruel heartless asshat buttmonkeys) I discovered the Nintendo Wii (which belongs to Kamarii's youngest brother). The addictive game in question that got me hooked is Link's Crossbow Training. (I've settled on 7 platinum medals and 2 golds as i don't think i'll beat those last two levels at platinum) It's a great game and now I want a Wii. (thats right, I might actually buy a system before it reaches 10 years of age)
In other news, Kamarii and I finally got engaged on the 11th of November
Having said all that, I hope everyone has a very Happy New Year! I'll try to update again before the next quarter year passes this time...
Take care everyone,
Matt
