A Fall Sunrise by kkart A Fall Sunrise by kkart
Sloan's Lake in Denver, Colorado comes alive in the morning sunrise. Fall sunrises are the stuff of legends here in Colorado and this one didn't disappoint as the fog was lifting off the lake.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Your photography reminds me why I miss Colorado so much. Even though I haven't lived there for 14 years I still feel like I can keep some connection to the beautiful landscapes through your photography.

That's a gorgeous sunrise and a gorgeous shot. The colors border on — if not the unreal — the psychedelic. I've driven by Sloan Lake a few times, but I've never spent any time there. The kiddo would like it. We'll have to put it on "the list." She was born three months early, in the first week of September, and she spent that time in Children's Hospital. That fall and early winter, before my wife went to work, she'd take me to the hospital. We'd take Martin Luther King all the way out to the border with Aurora and wrap around Stapleton and onto Moline. Point being, whenever we hit the stretch between Havana and the intersection of Moline and East 25th, cloud cover willing, our mornings almost always began with an outrageous sunrise. I've done my best to shove that time of our lives out of my mind, and I guess that's one of the things that I forgot about as well. I should take the camera over to Cheeseman on my morning walk. That'd probably be the best bet for a good sunrise on Capital Hill — or am I forgetting somewhere?

This reminds me of that scene in Life of Pi where the ocean looks so mirror-clear and amazing. This picture has the same degree of surreality, except that you realise this is actually real life. Stunning :)
