A critique, eh? It's very rare I write these but what the heck. Don't kill me though lol

The first thing-- image size. It's too small. Presentation is everything and it needs to be larger. Go 1200px to 1400px longest side when it's a landscape photo and 900px tallest side when it's a portrait orientated photograph. Use photographer Zach Bright's free Photoshop action for this which uses luminosity masks in photoshop to resize & sharpen www.bright-images.com/blog/201… (click "enjoy" at botton to download it).

The bright part at the top is a bit distracting and borderlines on a tangent which takes the viewers eyes off the main focus; the bee. That being said, you did a great job at holding back the highlights in it and didn't blow them out.

Your color here is quite eye catching and I like the way you desaturated the image a tad and used a lack of contrast. In a photo like this it works very well. It really brings the color palette out nicely.

The lens flare, while may be an issue for some doesn't bother me at all.

Your watermark, I am on the fence with. It's too small to actually read what it says. Instead of using that I would suggest using a proper signature created in Photoshop using a png. You find out how to do that here in this YouTube video by photographer Charley Pangus www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovBLi5…

Overall conclusion; I like it! I think you did a great job, I just want to see it larger, on my 24" screen it's quite small.

Sloan's Lake in Denver, Colorado is one of my favorite local haunts and it always provides some great images for me. In this photograph, the sunrise was meeting golden hour as rain clouds hovered on the horizon creating some astounding light. To get the shot I used a ND400 backed up by a CPL and a s stop Grad ND to get an exposure of 20 seconds. I hope you all enjoy it.

Swainson's Hawks. Absolutely amazing birds and incredible raptors and also one of the greatest migrations on earth. Every late spring I look forward to their return here in Colorado as they come here to hatch their young, flying all the way up from Argentina to spend the summers and are known to spend time in Canada as well.
This guy was a young one, probably a year old, possibly returning to the nest he was born. Oh, and they make for great photographic subject matter as well!

Giant sunflowers bathe in the golden light of sunset just east of Denver, Colorado.
Every August I look forward to photographing the massive sunflower fields which go on for miles and in this image, the light was just dead on, filling the scene with drama and atmosphere.

So we've come full circle. Hi everybody.
I'm going to TRY and come back here. I am just not unsure how much time I'll have for it. I'll do my best though. The last 2 years have been pretty hard and I have been very ill and still am. There's a lot I could say about it all but I am not able to get out as much with my camera as I once was due to it. I still am finding time here & there though. For my facebook followers, you know what I'm talking about & I really owe you all for what you have done for me.
For everybody else, let's see what I can do on here <3

DD worthy

Journal Entry: Thu Sep 7, 2017, 3:36 PM
These days it's difficult to find photography on here which really stands out. I mean REALLY stands out, especially since DA isn't attracting the people it once did and so many here have left for other sites. That being said, incredible work can still be found and seen on here & you just have to know where to go to find it.

I thought I would share with all of you work that I would give DD to if I was still a volunteer. These images IMHO all deserve it & are worthy. Amazing work. Inspiring work. Incredible work.

Enjoy!
