This is Paul Soter as DJ Dave in Club Dread. This weekend, I rented a car to drive from a Pittsburgh to Indianapolis just to meet Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske at Horrorhound. Why? Because Steel City Con never brings anybody good and they bring the same people over again. I recently got back into a Broken Lizard kick, and thought that’s the perfect opportunity. I’m going to draw the rest of the guys from either Club Dread, Super Troopers, or Beerfest.
Paul and Erik were both the NICEST celebrities I ever met. I was so star-struck, I hope I didn’t sound like an ass. But this time, unlike when I met Zack Ward and felt the same way, I’m pretty sure I didn't sound like an ass. I got hugs, selfies, a group shot, and autographs for $80. The convention itself was cool, but you can see everything and meet all or most celebrities in a few hours. Because of that, I asked them if I could hang out and bullshit with them, and they said yeah, but they were on their way to get dinner. Afterwards, when they came back, Paul pulled up a chair for me, but a huge horde of people came, so I got out of the way. At the end of the night, I talked some more with them, and they let me walk down the hotel with them. That’s when I got the selfies. I hope I didn’t sound like a weirdo to Paul, but I told him in Slammin’ Salmon, as one of his characters (he had a double role), he was kind of scary, but he was great. He also played an antagonist in a horror movie called Badlands of Kain. I asked, since I like actors with range, if he’d be a bad guy in any other movies and he said hell yeah if he got the chance. I asked Erik the same thing, and he too said yeah.
Anyways, long story short, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske are great to their fans, and appreciate the love and support. If you ever get a chance to meet them, do so.
