:bulletgreen: Fair Exposure and miscategorization
On January 24th, 2012, we released an hq (https://www.deviantart.com/hq) journal regarding Popular results for Browse. In this journal, we described Fair Exposure -- deviantART's algorithm for Popular browse results. Fair Exposure's goal is to showcase the most popular deviations in a variety of styles, genres, and art forms, without bias towards a particular topic.
Since the release of our Fair Exposure announcement, especially in the last handful of weeks, we've noticed a concerted, dedicated effort made by deviants, or groups of deviants, to specifically beat (or "game") the system. Deviations have been intentio
There are few hard and fast rules when it comes to pricing artwork to sell. Why you ask? Well for one there are many variables that go into determining the cost of the artwork. It’s for that very reason that many artists (including myself in the past) sell themselves tremendously short. Another reason we as artists feel our palms getting sweaty when someone asks for a price to an artwork is because we feel as though we’re not being true artists if we accept money for our work. So, it's been a while, and so much has happened. I had yet another laptop stolen, and had to replace it. Worse yet, they also stole my scanner, so that's why the drought of new art. However, I recently found an excellent scanner app for my phone that works really well, so I will be putting some new stuff out there soon. Plus, I've been dealing with a lack of inspiration. Okay, maybe not eeeeeeverything, but a lot of the Turtle stuff...
So, I know it's been a VERY long time since I've posted anything, artwork, updates, stuff like that. Well, I thought I'd let you know what's been going on.
First and foremost, the reason I haven't been posting updates is because my previous laptop (and various other important items) were stolen!!! Yes, someone broke into my apartment and swiped my shit!!! I've only now been able to replace it, but I miss my baby :(. Anyway, all things considered, I'm still blessed, because everything that was stolen has been replaced, either for free or for much less than I paid for it originally. And no one was hurt, so everything is still good on this end
