What you have there is an abscess out of control. If a vet had seen the rat 2 weeks ago, he would of cleaned it out and prescribed antibiotics. Now, it's way to far gone to save the rat. Pretty much what is happening is the flesh is dying and falling off the rat, bacteria is eating away at the live flesh underneath. That lump you feel is prolly a pocket of puss from where the bacteria has spread. Rats are prey critters, so they usually don't show pain unless it's their dying breath.

There is nothing you can buy OTC that will help this rat. You might be able to get some penicillin from a feed store, but it's prolly too low-grade an antibiotic to protect the rest of the flesh. A warm washcloth compress would help the lump come to a head and leak the puss out, but you may not want that with so many other open wound areas.

If you have a vet that would work with you, this page, [link] has info on how to properly treat an abscess. And seriously, any vet should be able to treat this, even if they don't know rats.

This site, [link] helped me understand how sites depend on CSS on how they fit together and look. They have several style sheets and you can look at the css that is used for them.

Another thing I do, in order to learn how a bit of css works, is just to google it. So if I was confused on how float works, I'd just do a "Css float" search. Or same for margin, text-decoration, or whatever. Divs and Spans in the HTML are a bit confusing, so I always hafta review on how they're used.

After you're done with a site and think it works, be sure to check it in every browser you can think of. IE 6 used to be a pain to code for, in fact my main site still has two separate style sheets, one for IE & one for firefox.
