And so it ends, with things both a little better off and a little worse off than when they began.

I wrote my master's thesis on how comics are both a form of figurative art and a performance medium, and one of the points I raised was how comics use visual cues to evoke the same techniques that are used in other forms of performance art.  Here I employ a technique normally used to sour happy endings in movies, by pulling the camera back from the scene of the finale, the music becoming quiet and distant as it pans and crossfades over to something important that was lost or forgotten earlier in the film (in horror movies, it generally involves some sort of clawed hand reaching from out of frame to grab the cursed artifact that everyone thought they were well rid of, but this isn't a horror movie... yet).

This arc ended up being a lot more involved than I originally planned, but I think I like it better for that. My original plan of doing shorter, single issue adaptations of various episodes probably would have ended up being kind of boring, but two-part mashups of multiple episodes have a lot more potential going forward.
