The Great Hyperspace Friendship Problem, Part 1

Yay, Friendship is Dragons crossover!

Not yay - apparently I'm up first in the guest comics rotation.  Which means I have about two weeks to get my act together and start putting the next issue together.  Scary! It took ages and ages just to do these five pages, and that was with reusing a ton of resources.

So... obvious disclaimer: As with the Dark Forces crossover, while the events depicted in the following pages are canon for my universe, the exact way they play out may vary from 'actual' history (beyond just the RPG mechanics).

I've always wanted to at least give you a look at Cloudsdale, so here it is. The design of the cloud-city rings around the entire planet are based on the factory rings of the planet Kuat.  The skyhooked moons were just because I figured they probably would have.

In my 'verse, the events of the Tales of the Jedi comics are kind of divided between two events, the 'Great Hyperspace Friendship Problem' and the Umbrum Wars, which are separated by a couple centuries.  The 'Great Hyperspace Friendship Problem' occurs at the end of the Expansion Era--the time we were at the beginning of in the Trixie special--and so I tried to retain some of the steampunk aesthetics from that story (by recycling the assets).  Unfortunately, because I had a deadline and was not in the best headspace for putting things together, I didn't go quite as far as I would have liked.  Imagine a bit more brass and mahogany in some of these shots, please.

Some of the characters are based on Tales of the Jedi characters (loosely), some are based (even more loosely) on characters from other Star Wars comics, and the one being 'played' by Pinkie Pie is based on Paine from FFX-2 (originally there were three instead of four, with Pale Moonlight being based on Yuna and Wind Whistler I being based on Rikku, but I kind of threw that out the window because it would have required a lot more work than I was willing to put in right now).

Pale Moonlight is the oldest of the sisters, having been born during the Purple Plague and accidentally turned herself into a vampire trying to cure it (obviously she eventually finds a cure for her condition, given that Moon Moth is her descendant).  She is (extremely loosely) based on Demagol, the Mandalorian mad scientist from the Knights of the Old Republic comics.

Wind Whistler I, Cloud Raine, and Sunrider are all about the same age (about 5 years between them).  Wind Whistler was designed to be the polar opposite of her descendant namesake, and is also loosely based on Valenthyne Farfalla (from the Jedi vs Sith) comics, although I gave her Starbreaker 12 (instead of the wooden sailing-ship starship) because it was the right color and I'd already made it.

Sunrider is, of course, based on Nomi Sunrider, the hero of Tales of the Jedi. Since Nomi is a Jedi and Sunrider does not become a princess (unless I decide she's just too cute and change my mind later), I gave her a light-screwdriver as a nod. As she was the founder of Cloudsdale's House Light, she has no descendants in the comic proper, since the last baron of that house was the late Viceroy of the Trade Federation in the Pone Wars era.

The final two characters are only superficially based on Tales of the Jedi characters: the poid DRG-1 is based on Jori Daragon's appearance, while the diamond dog Dogga the Mutt is based on Bogga the Hutt's name.

Nice font and 4th world break? Also, when I read 'Wind Whistler', I thought she was referring to RD's mum.
