A New Hope_Chap. 3 -Sonamy-

Chapter 3

The first thing I noticed when I was able to pull out of my unconscious state was the throbbing pain in my head. I didn't open my eyes immediately after awakening. I knew where I was and that it was crazy bright.

Clack, Clack, Clack,

The noise was like a hammer to my brain. What IS that?

"What's taking him so long!?" Eggman demanded.

Oh...

Eggman paced restlessly back and forth on the metal floor of his base, waiting for the arrival of that blue blur that had hindered him for so long.  Clack, Clack, Clack, he continued to pace.

"He will be here soon enough." a familiar metallic voice responded, "we do not want him to arrive before Amy awakens."

"Go check and see if she's awake yet, I'm tiered of waiting."

Clank, Clank, Clank, I heard the sound of Metal walking toward me. I was determined not to let him know I was awake. He cupped my chin in his hand and made some quiet beeping sounds, like he was analyzing something. I kept my eyes closed and tried to keep my face relaxed.

"Pulse: 96. Breathing: Irregular. Affirmative, she is awake."

Drat!

I tried to spit in his face but he put his hand up to shield it. He looked at the blood on his hand and then at me. I scowled at him.

"Now, now Metal." Eggman said in mock reproach, "is that any way to treat our guest? Give her some room, your making her nervous."

He backed off.

Eggman approached me and clapped his hands 4 times. Metal claws came from the ceiling and grasped my arms near the shoulder, pulling me to my feet. I looked up at Eggman (who was standing closer to me than Metal was) and glared.

"Now, Amy." he said, "don't look at me like that. After all, we're NOT going to kill you." He grinned.

"Than what ARE you going to do with me? After you get the Chaos Emeralds I'm of no further value to you. Not that is matters. Sonic will save me!"

"Your right. We could easily kill you." he responded, ignoring my comment about Sonic, "Metal said that he wanted you for something. After Sonic is dead you'll be his."

I gave the robotic hedgehog a shocked look. "Wha-? But what do you want with-"

"So, you didn't start the party without me after all! How touching!"

The deep, milky voice of Rouge the Bat was the last thing I expected to hear. I looked past Eggman to see that she had changed back into her normal clothes.

Eggman turned around, his face red with anger. "ROUGE! You're LATE! What kept you?"

"I find that question a bit snoopy, don't you? Tisk,tisk! Didn't your mother teach you any manners."

"I have manners when they're called for! Where WERE you?"

"Busy. I made it in time, didn't I? Now..." Rouge walked toward Metal, "What was this about you wanting Amy?"  She put an arm on his shoulder and leaned on him. "Aw, is there a soft spot under that cold, metal exterior of yours? Or simply selfish desires?" She winked.

Metal didn't flinch. "Nether." was all he said.

She smirked, "It's because Sonic likes her isn't it? And you want her all to yourself. It's just to take her away from him. But I wonder..." she cooed, "why keep her after Sonic's dead?"

"Stop flirting with my robots, Rouge." Eggman reprimanded, "It doesn't phase them."

"I wasn't flirting. Just asking him simple questions. Learn the difference."

"Whatever," Eggman grumbled, "Just get to your position, and DON'T disappoint me!"

Rouge saluted him mockingly. "Copy that!" She flew out of sight.

Eggman turned to Metal. "Keep her in line while I go watch for Sonic."

The robot nodded and Eggman stepped out of the room. I looked at Metal Sonic. "So what DO you want wi-"

"Quiet." he interrupted.

"But what do I have to do with-"

"I said 'quiet'."

I didn't like being shut up, but I obeyed. I figured I didn't need another bruised cheek to match my right one. Metal and I didn't speak to each other for the rest of the time I was there.

After what seemed like and eternity (actually probably only 5 minutes) Eggman came back into the room.

"Sonic has entered the base! It won't be long now before-"

Sonic came running in. He looked first at Eggman, then at Metal. When his gaze fell on me, he got a look of such sadness on his face that I thought my heart would break. I must look awful! I thought.

He glared at Eggman. "Haven't seen you for a long time and it still hasn't been long enough. Are you going to give Amy to me or am I going to have to fight you for her?" As he said this, Knuckles smashed through a wall behind him and came to stand by his side. Tails was not far behind him.

"Well," Eggman began, "You could try and take her but I wouldn't advise it. Do you see those claws holding her? Those have the capability of conducting large amounts of electricity. All I would have to do is snap my fingers and she would be fried."

Sonic stayed cool, but after knowing him for so long I could tell that he was far from relaxed by the way he held his shoulders. "Then I suppose your going to want something in exchange for her freedom." he said, trying to sound like his normal, cocky self, "All right old man, I'll play along. What do you want?"

Eggman grinned. "I want you to be the test subject of my new Metal Sonic by going one on one with him in battle. You see, the years I've been dormant I've been making modifications to him. Improving him so he is more fit to challenge you, my worthy adversary."

Sonic cocked an eyebrow at Metal. "He doesn't look any different to me..."

"Ah, but looks aren't everything, hedgehog."

"And if I don't smash my robotic replica into a pile of scrap metal and make you have to go back to the drawing board, your going to kill Amy?"

"Well..." Eggman responded, "If you don't want to fight Metal, I'll make you another more simple offer. Give me the Chaos Emeralds and the pink one is all yours again. I doubt you'll get such an offer from Metal Sonic. He's been quite eager to fight you."

I knew that Eggman was playing off Sonic's pride. I knew what was coming next and I couldn't just stay silent and watch it happen. "NO! Sonic don't! Its a tr-AH" Eggman struck me on the same side of my face that Metal had. "Stay out of this, you insolent brat!"

"Keep you hands off her!!" I heard Sonic's enraged voice shout. He charged straight at Eggman. Before he reached him, however, Metal rammed into him from the side, knocking him away from his target. Knuckles charged in to help Sonic but was blocked by Rouge as she threw a kick at him. He jumped back.

"You TRATOR!" he shouted, his face now red with burning rage.

"What'd you expect? You, of all people should know by now that its in my nature."

"That's no excuse!" he yelled as he tried to hit her with one of his iron fists. She did a back flip into the air and landed safely several feet away from him.

"You really need to learn to control that temper of yours. I have everything under control. Trust me."

"Not a chance!" he charged at her again.

While this was going on, Tails had flown toward Eggman in an attempt to fight him. Eggman, however had other plans. "Seize him!" he commanded. The mechanical fingers that were wrapped around my arms released me and went for the young teen, who landed and stepped back a pace. Pulling a small, tear-drop shaped object out of his pocket, he pointed it at one of the hands that was racing toward him. Pushing the small blue button on the top, he fired a short beam that hit home on its target, causing it to twitch and zap. He was so focused on the ones in front of him that he failed to notice the one creeping up behind him.

"TAILS!" I screamed. Too late. The metal fingers closed around his arm and shot a bolt of electricity through him.

"AAAAAAAAHH!" his body twitched and jerked.
I gathered up my strength, pulled out my Piko Piko hammer and charged for the thing that held Tails. With one swing I hit the long arm of the claw that held him and it snapped in two. Tails fell to the floor. To my relief. he was still breathing.

I was about to help him to his feet when I heard Sonic cry out in pain. I turned and saw that Metal Sonic had his sharp claws around Sonic throat. "Get away from him!" I screamed and ran, hammer raised, at Metal. I struck him on the side of the head with all my might. He let go of Sonic but I hadn't done any damage to him beyond that.

The shock in my hands from the blow caused me to drop my hammer. Metal let go of Sonic and grabbed my shoulders. I could feel his claws piercing my skin. He slammed me up against a wall so hard it knocked the wind out of me. When he let go, I fell to my knees and he kicked me over. I heard Sonic say something but my ears were ringing so loud that I couldn't understand.

When my eyes could focus again, I saw the metallic hedgehog standing over Sonic with a foot on his chest. He knelt down and pulled his hand back to jab his thorn-sharp claws into Sonic exposed belly.

"SONIIIIC!!!"

"CHAOS CONTROL!"

Everything stopped...
