I’ve wanted to tackle Carmilla for a while and with Halloween fast approaching, I thought I’d give it a go. A lot of people tend to gear towards the web-series, which is fine, but I wanted to gear closer to the original novella. More importantly, I wanted to show Carmilla showing a very possessive nature towards Laura.
Then again the original story was written with homophobic intent hence why it's a step in the right direction to reclaim her as a antiheroine like in the web series being that she's the quintessential lesbian vampire hence should be a model to the LGTBQ+ community when it comes to Vampires of course along with another Homosexual Vampire called "Manor" written by Karl Heinrich Ulrich in 1885 (a actual gay rights activist that is) which presented a positive homosexual relationship but he was a Gay Man however which compared to Carmilla, it's sorta unfair that is.
I know that novel well, it's my fave. So gripping and spooky
Yeah I wished they kept closer to Le Fanu's original story; mostly cuz I wanted to see them own those gorgeous period era dresses.
