I have a new computer! I'm going to write a blog post about the process of putting this sucker together, it wasn't all shiny happy fun-fun-fun. But for now, it is ALIVE and I have begun the holy-crap-it-takes-forever process of getting all the programs going again, not to mention reinstalling five zillion Daz products. Yuck. That should take about half a lifetime. But it will happen, and then guess what? I'll be able to render stuff again without blowing up my computer! Yay! Look out, world, this kitten is coming back!
YAY you, now I'm super jelly!
You'll get an upgrade. I have faith in the saving-for-computer gods. They'll help!
Nah, of course not. Why would I do anything sensible, like have an external drive? It's all internal. Some stuff made the move from Windows 7 to 10 just fine, although it's hard as hell to find now. But others... like Studio and DIM... are being all obnoxious about it.
Well, let me know if there's anything I might be able to help with. And enjoy your new computer after you get everything set up!
I think this new computer has an evil sense of humor. Not only did it try to scare me to death by initially acting like it wouldn't work, doing the same thing it did with the processor it returned, it decided Daz should work after all. Whatever. Don't know, don't care, the system's nice enough it's allowed to have a few quirks. Not to mention I ran across something claiming this processor has a neural network of some sort...
What processor do you have?
At least everything is working now ...?
Yeah, so far working good, although still doing the massive reinstallation of many, many things that didn't switch OS without spazzing. And I went for the gold, since I'll be making payments forever anyway: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X. It's amazing!
Sounds really good. And my sympathies on having to reinstall everything; been there, done that, and made sure it's not going to be a big deal in the future.
