My Bio

I'm coda. My pronouns are it/its (in the same way that you'd refer to a bug that's bothering you.) Despite my best efforts, I'm still an angel through and through, but I like to draw in my spare time. It's nice to keep busy. I'm not very sociable but I still like to make friends. If you'd like to chat about whatever whenever, feel free to reach out . I'm a bit socially inept so I may not know how to respond but I'll do my best.

I like to draw pictures of stories that touch me, and my own thoughts, feelings, and stories, as well. I'm always chasing anything that will make me feel something... so you might see the things I draw often change erratically, haha.

Just here to document my works in one place while I'm still making them. It isn't much but it's mine. I hope you'll enjoy.

ay there coda, ik it's been about 4(?) years since you've been on deviantart, i dunno if there's any other social of yours im aware of that you're probably more active in but, with that aside, happy birthday!

It's been a while since you've posted on dA, I hope you're doing alright! ^_^

Which program do you use to make drawings?

typically, mspaint and/or clip studio paint ! sometimes i mess with other software but those are the main ones nwn

how do u color i am sos TRASSSH at coloring i need to know

im honored you'd ask ! :3 i cant give a ton of advice because i mostly just do things the way that feels most fun for me and i don't think its terribly ideal or conducive to like, actually good practice or anything, but a few things that personally help me :

  1. move around the color wheel liberally! i think when coloring a lot of people have a tendency to pick one color and then when they shade it and do the other colors in the piecce that surround it just like, either darken or lighten that color, but i think it creates alot more depth and visual variation to include various different hues even in a piece that is mostly monochromatic . for example, like in this drawing..

gunpla girl

even on the parts of the piece that are supposed to be one color, like her blouse, i used a muted cyan for the highlights, a darker green to hug that highlight color, a greyish-pink for the "mid tone", an indigo color for the medium shadow, purple for the darkest shadow, so on and so forth... i try to do a lot of stuff like this not only because it makes shading more fun but also because it makes my artwork look a lt more shimmery, like an oil spill or something, and gives the colors a deeper "mood", i think....i do this iwth everything and its my number one piece of advice for anyone wanting to have more fun coloring.

2. look into rudimentary color theory! you dont need to study for a million years or anything but when it comes with coming up with color palettes its good to know which things compliment eachother..an d it also helps with picking colors for tip number 1..

3. dont be afraid to cheat... as a digital artist i am afforded various cheap ass tools like "copy paste image into my art software and directly color pick from image." there is literally nothing wrong with doing this even tho i think the culture on the internet refers to these kinds of things as cheating. it cna really help you learn how colors work in a real environment . i learn alot of lessons by just opening a picture that has interesting colors in it and colorpicking from random spots and then making a palette of those colors.

sub note on this one : one of my faovrite ways to cheat as a clip studio paint user is to take a reference picture (be it of a location or some other similar subject or like, reference art for a character) and use the "posterize" function(which you can find under edit > tonal correction) which is a super neat tool that will basically reduce the amount of hues in a picture down to whatever level you set it at -- i use this to both make and study color palettes with lots of visual intrigue fiarly often

4. if you're drawing with phyiscal media or painting  , my advice is to just layer the shit out of whaetever material you're using , layer colors taht you usually would never think to layer together, just see what happens...i think unconventional approaches are always the best for finding your own particular "voice" in each part of the artistic process, lol.

looking at your gallery, i think you already have a really wonderful grasp on colors, so i'm sure some of this will be redundant advice for you! but maybe it will help a little too. thanks again for reaching out to me hehe im touched that you like my approach enough to ask about it . bestest luck!
