This took about 6.5 hours to "complete." I say that only because I never feel like I'm finished.
I have an idea of what I want for the background, but I still can't decide if I want to add it in.
The more I look at it, the more cartoonish it appears.
General's charcoal:
HB
2B
4B
6B
and Tortillion
This is completely different from anything I've ever done, and with the result, I am now motivated to work more meticulously.
By the way, does anyone know if that spray you use to prevent smudging actually works? If so, what's the best brand?
Thanks for looking.

Sorry, i forgot to mention that the spray fixative for drawings does work very well, and you should definitely apply at least 2 coats on this drawing. The best brand i've used is "Winsor and Newton Spray Fixative MATTE finish", and you can get it for less than 10 dlls at Hobby Lobby or Michaels. This drawing should be framed asap!

This is a great portrait of regina spektor! you captured her features very well. I actually did a portrait of her and gave to her at a concert, she later sent me some autographed prints of my drawing to my home address, she's so awesome. Definitely my most favorite songwriter, great job! (Instant fav, btw)
