:bulletblue: I do own all of my drawings, comic pages, fanfiction, songs, poems, photos, journal entries, and other creations.  These may not be used by other people under any circumstances, whether edited or unedited, without my direct and explicit written permission.  This includes but is not limited to: posting my works on another deviantART account, posting my works on any website, claiming my works as your own work, and/or claiming my image and/or description of my own character as a depiction/description of your character.

:bulletred: You may not post my art/comic pages/writings/works/deviations/journal entries (edited or unedited) anywhere without my direct and explicit written permission.  This includes, but is not limited to, posting my work to another deviantART account, an art website, a Photobucket account, an Imageshack account, an image-hosting service, MySpace, Facebook, a forum, and/or a personal website.

:bulletred: You may not include my art/comic pages/writings/works/deviations/journal entries (edited or unedited) in any form of digital and/or physical publication without my direct and explicit written permission.  This includes, but is not limited to, using my art for a book cover, publishing my writings in a digital or physical magazine, and/or posting pieces or entireties of my journal entries in a blog.

:bulletpurple: You may use my drawings as references (for poses, anatomy, coloring, etc.) so long as you (a)give me credit by siting my name (Kira Ani McGrath and/or Kira-Ani-McGrath) in a description of the work or on the work itself, (b)link back to either my deviantART page or KAM's Place forum page in a description of the work or on the work itself, (c)do not use any parts of my original characters and/or costumes, photography/collages, written works, and/or any of my creations and/or deviations without my direct and explicit written permission, and (d)do not steal my work and claim it as your own!

:bulletred: You may not use my works for any kind of profit, including, but not limited to, personal and/or commercial.

:bulletpurple: The fair use law is applicable, but that is not a free pass to do whatever you want with/to my work.

:bulletpurple: If you wish to use my work for something other than references, note or email me and explain your project.  I reserve the sole right to approve or deny your use of my work.

:bulletorange: If you see any of my art/comic pages/writings/works/deviations/journal entries on any other deviantART account and/or website (excluding Kira-Ani-McGrath, Frozen-FaS, NeminaEarthenLegacy, KiraAniMcGrath, KiraAM-stock, my Tumblr account, F:FaS's Tumblr account, KAM's Place (my proboards account), my DrunkDuck account, my Smack Jeeves account, my YouTube account, my SoundClick account, and my iLike account) or any place offline, please note or email me, as it may be copyright infringement and I will need to personally attend to the matter.  Thank you.

:bulletgreen: The only exception to any of these rules are images which I have placed in deviantART's Resources & Stock Images category.  With such images, you must follow deviantART's stock usage rules (see dA FAQ entries 157, 257, 193, 217, and 557), my base-specific rules, and any other rules listed in the description of the deviation.

:bulletred: I reserve the right to change any of my personal rules at any time without notice.

:star-empty: Base-specific Rules :star-empty:
All above bullets and rules still apply.
If you have a question about my base-specific rules, please read my base-specific F.A.Q.

:bulletred: Please give me credit! If you directly use or reference any of my bases, please give me due credit for the base I created.  Either link back to my dA page in the description (through name (Kira-Ani-McGrath) or URL (kira-ani-mcgrath.deviantart.com)) or type my name (Kira-Ani-McGrath, Kira Ani McGrath, KAM) or URL (kira-ani-mcgrath.deviantart.com) on your image.

:bulletred: Your created image must be significantly altered!  In other words, someone would have to put significant effort into returning your image to my original base.  I don't want someone to happen across your image and have it be so barely altered that they're able to use your image as their base instead of going back to my original.  Basically, I want no re-posts of my bases.

:bulletred: Do not post one of my bases (whether directly saved or a referenced recreation) as your own base.  Do not save one or more of my bases and post it/them to another deviantART account nor anywhere else on the web, in print, or in any other media.  Do not redraw my base, with or without any anatomical changes, and post it to another deviantART account nor anywhere else on the web, in print, or in any other media.  Basically, I want no re-posts of my bases.

:bulletred: Do not edit one of my bases (whether directly saved and edited or a referenced recreation) and post it as your own base.  Do not change my female base into a male base and post it to another deviantART account nor anywhere else on the web, in print, or in any other media.  Do not change my male base into a female base and post it to another deviantART account nor anywhere else on the web, in print, or in any other media.  Do not redraw my base, with or without any anatomical changes, and post it to another deviantART account nor anywhere else on the web, in print, or in any other media.  Basically, I want no re-posts of my bases.

:bulletpurple: You may make pixel doll bases from my drawing bases if you give me credit and send me a link.  As long as you give me credit for the original pose, you are free to pixelize my drawing bases for the pixel doll community.  I do, however, ask that you leave a link in the comments of the base you pixelized, so that I can link to your base in my artist's comments.

:bulletpurple: You may post a significantly cleaned-up version of any of my drawing bases if you give me credit and send me a link.  As long as you give me credit for the original drawing, you are free to vector, ink, or otherwise noticeably improve upon the quality one of my bases.  I do, however, ask that you leave a link in the comments of the base you cleaned up, so that I can link to your base in my artist's comments.

:bulletred: Your use of my base(s) cannot earn you money.  This applies to both digital currency (ex: dA points, Gaia gold, etc.) and real currency (ex: US dollars, euros, etc.). This includes, but is not limited to, prints, adoptables, and commissions.  If you create a drawing with one of my bases, you cannot make that drawing into a print (or printed-on object) for people to purchase, whether on dA, another website, or in an already-printed physical form.  You cannot use my bases, neither directly nor as references, to make "adoptables" for other people to purchase from you, whether on dA, another website, or in a physical form.  If you take a commission, you cannot use any of my bases in any way, neither directly nor as references, regardless of whether the commission is arranged and/or displayed on dA, another website, or in a physical form.

:bulletred: You cannot use any of my bases for/in any item that is going to be given away for free.  This applies to both digital (ex: adoptables, badges, buttons, avatars, etc.) and physical (ex: flyers, advertisements, bookmarks, etc.) items. This includes, but is not limited to, prints, adoptables, and requests.  If you take a request, you cannot use any of my bases in any way, neither directly nor as references, whether on dA, another website, or in a physical form.  You cannot use my bases, neither directly nor as references, to make "adoptables" for another person/other people to freely take from you, whether on dA, another website, or in a physical form.  You cannot use my bases, neither directly nor as references, on anything where the same item and/or image is given to multiple people whether on dA, another website, or in a physical form.

:bulletred: You cannot use any of my bases for/in anything that is going to promote/advertise something.  This applies to both digital (ex: graphics, banners, badges, buttons, website ads, etc.) and physical (ex: flyers, pamphlets, newspaper ads, etc.) items.  You cannot use any of my bases in any way, neither directly nor as references, to create artwork/graphics/etc. that are, in-and-of-themselves or made part of, any sort of promotion or advertisement, whether on dA, another website, or in a physical form.

:bulletpurple: You may use my bases to draw a gift for someone.  If you're giving someone an image out of the goodness of your heart, you can use my bases either directly or as references.  However, you must still give me credit.

:bulletpurple: You may use my bases to draw part of an art trade or a collab.  However, you need to make sure that the other artist agrees to this before you do so.  Also, you must still give me credit.

:bulletpurple: You may use my bases as reference only when creating an entry for a contest if the contest rules allow it.  If the rules do not specifically state anything for or against using references, you must ask the host/owner/runner of the contest if using bases as references is allowed.  Also, you must still give me credit.  The exception to this rule is if the contest host and/or rules explicitly and specifically says that entrants are allowed to directly use bases in the contest.

:bulletpurple: If you use a base, please :+fav: it.  This is not an absolute.  I don't check for this or follow up on it.  I am not going to hunt you down and hound you to :+fav: a base that you used but didn't favorite.  It would just be nice, a sort of artist-to-artist favor, if you faved any bases of mine that you use.

:bulletred: Read the F.A.Q. before asking me something.  Please, please, please read my Bases F.A.Q. before asking me something about my bases.  (To read the F.A.Q., click here.)

:bulletyellow: By downloading/saving/using any of my bases, you automatically agree to follow these rules.  Whether you use one base or all of them, whether you use the bases directly or as reference, when you click that "Download" button or otherwise create a copy of the image, you agree to follow these rules.  If I come across a use of my bases that breaks my rules, I will ask the offender to remedy the situation.  If s/he does not comply, I will get the image removed.

:bulletpurple: You may ask me to grant specific exceptions to any of the above rules.  Since I cannot police personal use, you may have edited a base's pose or redrawn a base for better anatomy.  If you think the base is different enough or improved enough to be used by the public, e-mail me the image file at kiraanimcgrath386 [at] gmail [dot] com, and I will respond.  I reserve the sole right to approve or deny your request.

:star-empty: Lineart "Coloring Book" -specific Rules :star-empty:
All above bullets and rules still apply.
If you have a question about my Lineart "Coloring Book" -specific rules, please read my Lineart "Coloring Book" -specific F.A.Q.

:bulletred: Only linework placed into my Lineart "Coloring Book" gallery folder is available for coloring.

:bulletred: Do not remove my signature and/or date!  You MUST leave any and all of my signature marks and dates intact.

:bulletred: Please give me credit! If you color one of my inked/lined images, please give me due credit for the lineart I created.

:bulletred: Your colored image must be significantly different!  In other words, someone would have to put significant effort into returning your image to my original lineart.  Don't just color an eye or apply a filter and say, "It's an artistic interpretation!"  I don't want someone to happen across your image and have it be so barely altered that they're able to use your image as their source instead of going back to my original.  Basically, I want no re-posts of my lineart.

:bulletred: Do not post any of my unaltered linework as your own.  Just because I am giving the public permission to color my linework does not mean that you can just re-post my linework under your own dA account, on another website, or in any other media.  Re-posting my linework as your own work is outright thievery, and the image will be taken down.

:bulletred: Do not edit any of my linework and post them as your own.  Do not change the color of the linework and post the image to another deviantART account nor anywhere else on the web, in print, or in any other media.  Do not apply a filter and post the image to another deviantART account nor anywhere else on the web, in print, or in any other media.  Do not change the outfit or the hairstyle and post the image to another deviantART account nor anywhere else on the web, in print, or in any other media.  Do not change the gender of the subject and post the image to another deviantART account nor anywhere else on the web, in print, or in any other media.  Basically, I want no re-posts of my lineart.

:bulletred: Your use of my linework cannot earn you money.  This applies to both digital currency (ex: dA points, Gaia gold, etc.) and real currency (ex: US dollars, euros, etc.). This includes, but is not limited to, prints, adoptables, and commissions.  If you color one of my linearts, you cannot make that image into a print (or printed-on object) for people to purchase, whether on dA, another website, or in an already-printed physical form.  You cannot use my lineart in any way, shape, or form to make "adoptables" for other people to purchase from you, whether on dA, another website, or in a physical form.  If you take a commission, you cannot use any of my lineart in any way, regardless of whether the commission is arranged and/or displayed on dA, another website, or in a physical form.

:bulletred: Do not use my linework as part of any gifts, art trades, collaborations, contests, requests, or commission requests.  You may not color my lineart as a "gift" to someone.  You may not use my lineart as the whole or part of your half of an "art trade" with someone.  You may not ask someone to color my lineart as part of a "collaboration" with you.  You may not color my lineart and enter them in a contest.  You may not hold a contest where you ask entrants to color my lineart.  You may not request someone to color my lineart for you.  You many not color my lineart as a request for someone else.  You may not commission someone to color my lineart for you.  You may not color my lineart as a commission from someone else.

:bulletred: You cannot use any of my linework for/in any item that is going to be given away for free.  This applies to both digital (ex: adoptables, badges, buttons, avatars, etc.) and physical (ex: flyers, advertisements, bookmarks, etc.) items. This includes, but is not limited to, prints, adoptables, and requests.  If you take a request, you cannot use any of my lineart in any way, whether on dA, another website, or in a physical form.  You cannot use my lineart in any way to make "adoptables" for another person/other people to freely take from you, whether on dA, another website, or in a physical form.  You cannot use my lineart on/in anything where the same item and/or image is given to multiple people whether on dA, another website, or in a physical form.

:bulletred: You cannot use any of my linework for/in anything that is going to promote/advertise something.  This applies to both digital (ex: graphics, banners, badges, buttons, website ads, etc.) and physical (ex: flyers, pamphlets, newspaper ads, etc.) items.  You cannot use any of my lineart in any way to create artwork/graphics/etc. that are, in-and-of-themselves or made part of, any sort of promotion or advertisement, whether on dA, another website, or in a physical form.

:bulletpurple: You may ask me to grant specific exceptions to any of the above rules.  If you have a specific need or request in regards to my lineart, you may send me a dA note or an e-mail at kiraanimcgrath386 [at] gmail [dot] com.  I reserve the sole right to approve or deny your request.

:star-empty: Commission-specific Rules :star-empty:
All above bullets and rules still apply.

:bulletred: I retain copyrights to the image.

:bulletorange: I get to post the image in my deviantART gallery and use it as an example of my commission work.

:bulletred: I will never sell the commissioned work in any form, whether to a third party or for my own profit.

:bulletgreen: You retain copyrights to your character(s).

:bulletred: Your use of the commissioned work (my artwork) cannot earn you money.  This applies to both prints and commissions.  If you commission an artwork from me, you cannot make that image into a print (or printed-on object) for other people to buy, whether on dA, another website, or in an already-printed physical form.

:bulletgreen: You can use the commissioned work for any non-profit purposes.  This includes that you may crop, resize, or otherwise edit your commissioned work to suit your needs.

:bulletred: You must credit me if you repost the commissioned work in any form.

:bulletred: Do not claim that you drew the commissioned work (my artwork).

:bulletred: If you commission a base, then my Base-specific Rules also apply.

:bulletred: Any third parties retain their copyrights to their characters and creations.  This is if you ask me to draw a fanart or a fan character.  If you ask me to draw a DC Comics character, DC Comics still owns that character.  If you ask me to draw your created Pokémon trainer, Pokémon and official characters would still be ©/®/™ Satoshi Tajiri, The Nintendo Company, & Game Freak.

:bulletyellow: If you purchase a commission from me, you agree to the above rules.

you can change sex when I use for drawing? I mean the character, how to turn a guy on girl.
you can reuse it multiple times?
I can implement the design with my style using the basic reference only?

Sorry for my English.

You can't edit the base to make a different base that other people could use.
You can change anything about the base for your own drawing that uses the base.

I read your rules, and if I use your bases I know to link back to / credit you; however, I was wondering if I can post the artwork on a different website like Toyhou.se?

If you link back and/or have a link typed onto the image itself, then you can post a used-base image on other sites.

My rules state that I don't want my bases used in anything that makes someone money... buuuuut I also kind of don't care anymore. I don't think anyone's making enormous profits off of using my bases (and I feel like it's not worth my time to confront someone over selling a 20 point adoptable on my base). The rule is there to protect myself "just in case", I suppose.

So, yeah, go ahead. Thanks for taking the time to read my rules and ask, though.

Thanks~! I really like your bases, and I'm just selling the outfit not a character using your base. I was really hoping it would be okay. Haha~

Yeah, that was the other thing, with it being just an outfit. Plus I'm a lot more "meh" about things now than I was when I wrote these rules. :XD:

Your created image must be significantly altered!  In other words, someone would have to put significant effort into returning your image to my original base.  I don't want someone to happen across your image and have it be so barely altered that they're able to use your image as their base instead of going back to my original.  Basically, I want no re-posts of my bases.

I use bases because I can't draw poses. I mostly draw anime, book fanart, Original characters  and fashion designs. When I do this I re draw the head if it's too small, draw eyes, mouth, hair, and outfit but you can still see the base underneath the clothes is this okay or is it not altered enough? It's really hard to find everyday poses. Examples are in my gallery

I'd just like to say that  the www.deviantart.com/art/Body-Fr… base is awesome with helping to draw out cosplay ideas for my friends. I've been using it(But never posted them anywhere so don't worry about that. I'm far to shy for something like that.) for a while, never could find out who they belong to cause I was going threw google and google was always having some kinda of fit and not loading the pages. But now that I have, is it okay that I use it like that? I mean, it's not like I'll post it or anything, I just send the ideas to my friends for the cosplay ideas they need.

Anyways thanks, the base really helps a lot.

This question is probably rather stupid and is probably gonna end up being easily answered but even from reading the rules I'm not sure and I just want to be safe so here goes: I only draw with the traditional pencil-paper method. Is it okay to trace over a base onto a piece of paper and use it in that manner, as long as I still credit you? I'm sorry if this is a nuisance but like I said, I just want to be sure.

Yes, you can trace over bases with paper and pencil.

For the Base-Specific Rules, do I have to follow them if I don't post anything I create with them, profit from them in any way, nor use them in any way other than for reference for my own works.
I'd like to use your bases to aid in the design of my characters, but I don't plan on posting these designs at all. I just plan to reference the designs for future works (as opposed to memorizing the designs)

However, if I do end up posting the designs or using them in any manner other than the aforementioned, I shall double-check your rule list (as established by the Base-Specific Rules section of this journal) and follow them strictly.

Oh and honestly, I'm severely impressed with how detailed and formal this document is. Very well done :D

The basic answer is no, you don't have to follow the base-specific rules if what you are doing is for your own personal reference. This is because the rules really can't be applied to something that is not publicly displayed. The few rules that one could argue apply even without public display (i.e. "Your created image must be significantly altered!" and "Do not edit one of my bases...") are really only there so people don't go re-posting my blank bases. I don't care if you use my bases for a swimsuit design if you're never going to publicly display the used base (since a swimsuit is (usually) form fitting and doesn't cover much of the body, thus it's not a significant edit). I don't care if you make an edit to the base itself and keep that blank edited base on-hand in print or digital form for your own use. The rules really only come into play if the bases are used in something that you publicly display.

Thank you for taking the time to read through my rules. I've tried to make them concise (and then do further explaining in my FAQ), but oftentimes I make things too detailed and overly-complicated. I've gotten many comments along the lines of "I read your rules but I don't understand them." So I do appreciate that you found my rules to be well done. =)

Thank you very much. And like I stated, if I am to post any of these, I will re-read your Base-Specific Rules as detailed in this journal and follow them diligently. Also, just as a bit of comfort, all my designs are quite complicated or at least cover 70% of the skin on the body. In fact, one of my designs has all four limbs replaced with robotic ones (not the kind where it's just plating either) with all sorts of visible wires and weapons. Basically, you have absolutely nothing to worry about from me. :)

It was no problem. I appreciate the time and effort you must have put into these rules and guidelines, so I'll be happy to follow them down to the most precise detail.

I'm kind of confused on the bit about genderbending bases. Would it be okay if i just used your base as a pose reference for a drawing, but genderbended it? i'll still credit you in any case, but i just need to know whether I'd be breaking some rules because some of this is confusing.

You can use it as a reference and change the gender for your image, I just don't want someone to change the gender of the blank base and then post the changed blank base for other people to use.

just wondering, what do you mean by 'as a reference'? I cant look at the picture on my screen and use the picture to tell me how far to bend the leg? cause honestly, i think its a little unrealistic for people to not do that.

I mean, if you really dont like the idea of someone doing that on say a book cover or for a character reference, then ill go find someone else, but i just figured you ought to know people are going to do it. the base might be copywrited, but the pose itself isnt....
