Description
My project cover for my book report on THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL. I loved the book so I wanted to draw a cover that was symbolic for the events that take place in the book.
The story takes place during the French Revolution. The Scarlet Pimpernel is a British man that is smuggling aristocrats out of France (thus saving them from their fateful deaths at the blade of "Madame la Guillotine"). The man behind the Guillotine is supposed to represent the Scarlet Pimpernel, and the flowers instead of a severed head are supposed to represent not only his taking aristocrats from right under the executioner's nose, but his own brilliant escape. I feel like I ruined this symbolism when I wrote my own name with an arrow pointing at the person. The only reason I did that was because I couldn't decide where to put my name and I thought it was funny.
I didn't know what a scarlet pimpernel (it's a type of flower) looked like so my flowers resemble hibiscus.
