The Looney Year - 10/29/24 (The Mighty Angelo!?)

The Looney Year: A Review of all 1000+ Classic Looney Tunes (1929-1969) in one Year By StrangerAtaru With Appearances by...Friends. 10/29/24: 821: Feather Bluster Series: MM Director: Bob McKimson Released: 5/10/58 How long are Foghorn Leghorn and Barnyard Dawg going to be at it with one another?    Well according to this short, which is basically a clip show combined with the concept of “The Old Grey Hare”, until their grandkids do…just that too.    There really isn’t much to this short: Foghorn and Barnyard are just in the “home” for old cartoon animals and we see their grandkids (really should a chick version of Foghorn already have his plumage yet?) just tormenting each other, all while they recollect on some of their past gags using clips from “Henhouse Henery” and two more recent shorts, “All Fowled Up” and “The High and the Flighty”.    Considering how recent the last two are, maybe the short could have worked if it was all older Foghorn content (I mean most of their shorts

The Looney Year: A Review of all 1000+ Classic Looney Tunes (1929-1969) in one Year By StrangerAtaru With Appearances by...Friends. 3/7/24: 189: My Little Buckaroo Director: Friz Freleng Released: 1/29/38 Amazingly, I forgot to look this short up and almost thought from the start that this was a Tex Avery short, but considering the ethnic jokes (and Freleng tending to like Mexico...well moreso once Speedy Gonzales exists), I probably should have figured this was Freleng from the beginning. The short focuses mainly on a bandido known as "The Terror" (who looks like a humanoid rat himself...seriously shrink him to mouse size and he'd be the perfect Speedy opponent) and the early gags are decent enough though some get confusing, especially this one bit where you have the Terror rob a bank a dog is supposed to be the alarm for, and it just...wakes up and rings only by the time the Terror has done his deeds. The Looney Year: A Review of all 1000+ Classic Looney Tunes (1929-1969) in one Year By StrangerAtaru With Appearances by...Friends. 9/2/24 657: Going! Going! Gosh! Series: MM Director: Chuck Jones Released: 8/23/52 I sort of wonder if Jones probably had a bit of wonkiness with the last Road Runner (Acceleratti incredibilis) and Coyote (Carnivorous vulgaris) short considering things like the weird distribution of gags and how it felt like it wanted to remake “Fast and Furry-ous” a few years later in “Beep, Beep”.    At least with that out of him, we get a great set of gags here, starting with the Road Runner running under the Coyote’s body so it rolls up like a window blind prior to all the schemes he comes up with.    We get classic bits like the quick-drying cement that the Road Runner just splashes onto Wile E. making it dry instantly on top of him, a bit involving a grenade where he waits for the Road Runner to pass only for the bird to run to another route knocking a boulder on
