Artsy Fartsy

0 min read
I'm pretty sure I've made a post similar to this one, but I'd like to have a conversation, please. No, really, if you're reading this, please leave me a comment so we may discuss this topic: why are folks in the art community so "artsy fartsy" with everything they create? On IG, I saw a great drawing video about what it was like for the artist to draw her anxiety. Why is this so common? Does everyone who create art have constant depression, anxiety, feeling down, etc.? Why? I'm not depressed or have anxiety. But WHY in the art world does everyone seem to be lackluster, except when it comes to their feelings? I know, I know, what a rude thing to say. How dare I question someone's feelings. Just, stop for a minute. Everything seems to have a deeper meaning in thr art world. WHY?! You know what I'm thinking when I snap a photo or draw a sketch? "I want to draw/photograph [insert subject here] because I think it's cool/that's neat and want others to experience how cool [it] is!" There's no deeper meaning there. Cool sunset? *snap-a-photo* I like the female form? *draw a cute girl* I'll tell you one thing, I'm fed up with the current state of our planet. I actually thought about creating something to represent how I feel about the world, but then I realized it would just be me angerly throwing paint on a canvas like Pollock...and I hate his art. So, I gave up on that idea and went back to drawing what I love, because it makes me feel good. Our world sucks. Find something you love to do and be happy. Call a friend and BS about nothing. Both you and your friend would enjoy it. Get out and do something fun. And if you want, create a piece about your experiences. Art doesn't always have to have a deeper meaning. For some, sure. Me? Na.

Pin-up Art!

0 min read
YEP. I've been a fan of pin-up art for decades. Not only is it sexy and fun to draw, but I love the historical aspect of it. I'm a huge WWII buff and love nose art. Pin-ups came about around then and have appreciated Pin-ups and the stories they tell. Hopefully I'll get really good at Pin-ups and create some amazing works. Wish me luck!

Getting into Pin-up art. I have never really done it before and I'm quite enjoying it, haha. I still have a long way to go, but here's to the beginning!
