So i've been toiling away on a new project, and for the marketing material i wanted something a bit more ... well, not sci fi. I wanted some kind of gaelic/celtic warrior girl, so i went to my go-to girl Ceridwen (which you should totally get btw). The problem is, i wanted incredibly high detail skin, and specific makeup but she just didn't have the look i was going for. So! I made a fresh character from scratch using G3F as a base. 8k hand-painted maps, scratch-made morphs and even a neat head band. I couldn't even find the hair i wanted so i had to re-mesh an old hair set so it fit around the band and gathered around the left shoulder. All in all it was 14 hours work for one promotional plate :(

Regrets - I should have made the SSS map more dense around the ears. I should have used subD on the hair (forgot). I should have painted heavier AO effects around the brass buttons on her headband. I should have spent longer on her makeup.

Hindsight is 20/20 though. Thank you for listening to my rant and i hope you like my little Frankenstein! It's 4k but fairly cropped so you might have to expand to see her properly.

Wow she is really beautiful!  I am going to be working on learning to do my own face paint and make up, its been on my to do list for a long time.  I love to that kind of stuff which is really funny since I hardly wear any make up at all lol.

I did indeed and I most certainly will thank you!  Wish I had more time for all this stuff.  So much to learn....

Well well....a foray into character making? could this be a sign of things to come? Cos she is VERY interesting. And LOVE that head band!!

Maaaybe. Characters are tougher than i thought though, to many moving bits and lady areas to shield my eyes from. I'll get there eventually though, headband and all!

whoa, yes! you must shield your eyes from the lady bits!!!! can't have you checking out an elbow or - god forbid - a knee! (and i know what knees do to you!) :) :)

I'm using this as my wallpaper at the moment - really digging her look!

I think it's an amazing image regardless of your 'frustrations' with it. The darker tones and earthly or natural look is bold and just perfect in my opinion. I love the Celtic/Gaelic look. It's a beautiful promo and at first glance I thought I was seeing a tease for a new character. I was so excited... ;)

Thanks Tykey! As i've said before, i'm not a character artist, so i usually just leave it to the pros. I've had some great feedback for her though so i'll probably finish her up and put her on the store :)

Thanks poses! I riffled through google images for ages to try and get her makeup right and i probably still messed it up somehow. Celtic warriors didn't keep a lot of fashion journals :(

Nice work! The mood and the surroundings are very fitting. When will she it the shop? I like that she is not the average pretty girl clone we have ever so many, and I agree Ceridwen is a jewel, one of the few characters I like to use of the box.

Hey thanks welly! I hadn't really thought about putting her on the store, I'm not a character artist. I just needed her for a shot that's all. Everyone seems to like her though so i'll probably pack her up and see what daz makes of her. :)

See there is the spirit, you alreade made most of the work for that so why not use it. I remember you've been asked to make characters over in the commercial thread, so there definitley interest.
But now I nosy about what the product will be o3o

Well i don't want her to go to waste, so i'll do my best! Apparently there is super high bar for characters though, and as i said, i'm not a character artist. There's no guarantee she'll get accepted unfortunately. I'll give it my best shot though :)

We will have to wait and see then. I don't know about any expectations they have about character or any other product for that matter, but I guess being already PA helps a bit. They probably do get send a ton of stuff they have to sort though...

I'm pretty sure i can get her through. I just haven't worked on characters since working in game design, and daz is quite complex with how it handles them. I'll do my best though welly, promise :)
