DeLorean-Dark-Stripped-Themes-3.8 10042013

DeLorean-Dark-Stripped-Themes-3.8/3.9 ~ Join the dark side
Icons - F-Dark(Faenza)
Based on the Adwaita Theme.

The Stripped theme has everything DeLorean-Dark has, but without the bloat. It runs faster and uses fewer resources. The steel background image is gone, as are most pattern files. Other resource hogs have been removed as well such as individual tree-view cell borders. DeLorean has been stripped.

Theme folders are numbered 3.9. Currently the package is numbered as 3.8. I apologize for the confusion.</i>

There is a problem
with metacity-1 in all your Themes (Delorean, Dorean), including this one (
Stripped-Themes-3.8). I myself can not figure out how to fix this problem. So please help. No buttons appear "close", "minimize a window" in the menu Sound (mate-volume-control) -> Hardware -> Test Speakers. In all other standard themes, these controls are present. Desktop Environment: MATE.
Here you can see a screenshot:…

Tell me how to fix it, please!

I've tried it out and have know idea as to what the issue with that window is.  I am sorry you will just need to click the menu on the titlebar and select close min or max for there.  I wish I could be of more assistance.
Thanks Cheers!
Thank you very much for your answer!
I can also press ESC to close the window.
I just thought that there is another solution to this problem. Maybe the problem is that the title of the window for some reason, scaled (reduced) and for this reason, the control buttons simply do not fit (not appear). I tried to see and compare the xml-code of the other Metacity themes, but did not understand what is missing. It's a pity.

Inspired work!
Been using your themes for a long time. Just got around to installing a newer version and this is by far my favorite. The only problem is with the pidgin conversation window. I do like the lighter color (DBDBDB) for the gtkentry in most apps, but I got so used to 2D2D2D from your old theme and would like to get that back for pidgin only. I've tried everything suggested here…
and it seems I can change everything BUT the background color of the conversation window.

These seem to be the target widgets, but they have no effect.
widget "*pidgin_conv_entry" style "imhtml-fix"
widget "*pidgin_conv_imhtml" style "imhtml-fix"

Even something like this styles all backgrounds except the conv window.
style "purplerc_style"
base[NORMAL]     = "#00ff00"
widget_class "*" style "purplerc_style"

Of course changing the xfce theme works w/o issue. Might you have any idea how I can change this color just for pidgin?
Either way I just love your work. Thanks again for the best dark themes to be had!

Hey, no problem, here is what you need to do.
Add this anywhere within your gtkrc:  # Pidgin IM Window Text and Background Colors
style "pidgin_entry"
 base[NORMAL]     = "#ff0000"
 text[NORMAL]   = text_color

 engine "murrine"
text_shade = 0.4
textstyle = 0

Next add this at the VERY bottom of the gtkrc file; after the libreoffice stuff.
widget_class     "*GtkIMHtml*"             style:highest "pidgin_entry"
And that will fix it.  Just change the base[NORMAL] color to whatever you want, and you may have to adjust the text[NORMAL] color as well.

Don't think I woulda figured that out easily. Many thanks.

There is another little thing that popped up but it doesn't bother me that much. Just figured I'd ask in case it was a trivial fix.…

The buttons look fine on most apps, but on some they seem to lose the transparency. Either way I'm happy now that I can read my pidgin again.

Which program lost transparency buttons? Maybe I fixed this.

That problem I never quite figured out. Sorry.

No worries at all.
Thanks again for everything! :)

This theme won't be updated again.  However its good to hear that 3.12 themes are working on 3.14.  I hope that means there will be little to change.
Hey guys...

Looking at the screenshot above makes me definitely wanna use this theme.
I'm using RHEL on a corporate laptop which has its own repository.

I'm wondering... which repository URL allows me to add all the dependencies, which then inturn allows me to use the theme?

Right now if I add the theme dirs to /usr/share/themes/ and try to select the theme to use, it tells me the following message:

"This theme will not look as intended because the required window manager theme 'delorean-dark-stripped-theme-3.9' is not installed'"
killhellokitty's avatar
I've checked the package and the window manager theme is within the 'delorean-dark-stripped-theme-3.9'.
Are you using 'Gnome-Tweak-Tool' to choose the theme?
Other than using the tweak tool, I can't imagine what the problem could be.
Wow! This is way overdue, but better late than never right?  I'm running this on everything.  When it comes to beautifying Gnome, there is no substitute.  Combine it with the "Royal Blue" icon theme and it gets just that much better.

Ty for your outstanding work on this and the previous deLorean themes.

Thanks for the glowing compliment.  I needed that today.  I'll have to check out the "Royal Blue" icon theme, I'm the worst at finding cool icon
All my best! Cheers!

Thought I'd try this on my arch virtualbox install, it looks great. Definiatly going to use it on a real install on my hd.
However, in LibreOffice I find several settings windows difficult to read. The non-selected entries seem to use a black fount on a (very) dark grey background.
Would it be possible to use a somewhat lighter grey for the list control background?

I am aware of this particular issue.  I will see what I can do.  Thanks
This is now my preferred theme as it proved to be both lightweight and good-looking.
Indeed - very nice. Many thanks!

Thanks a lot for this version, I wanted soemthing lighter for my netbook, you did it :)

You are very welcome.  This version should run a lot smoother on a netbook.
