Wishful Thinking
It was getting late in Fredrick, Ohio. The rain poured from the dark grey clouds and beat against the windows of the Smith home. The Smiths were an average family living in your typical suburban neighborhood. Most of them were content with the usual day to day but not Darby. She was a very bright and talented young woman with long blonde hair, fair skin, and had a curvy build. She stood above her classmates by a few inches and blended in with the usual high school kids. She wanted to get out of Fredrick and travel the world.  Not that she hated her family or was frustrated with her life, she just wanted excitement. She pictured herself cutting thick vines as she traveled through the Amazon, diving deep into the coral reef, and even riding on the back of an elephant through a culture rich Indian village. Darby stared out her window as her mind wandered, telling herself that she will do all those things one day. She would be past the horizon and off to explore the world.

You Are What You Eat: The Spread
You Are What You Eat: The Spread (Various to horses)
“I wonder if Sam would want to have Fruit Loops or Apple Jacks?” Marissa thought to herself while she pushed her cart down the grocery aisle. Everything seemed like a normal Saturday afternoon, until she heard a woman cry out across the store. The calm atmosphere was broken immediately. Marissa saw handfuls of people running towards the scream and a somewhat animalistic cry break out through the store. All the commotion draws Marissa towards the end of the aisle. It was hard to make out but she could see what appeared to be a woman with horse like features in a panic as the changes spread. This looked like something straight out of a sci-fi movie or those cheesy werewolf movies. The crowd slowly grew larger and the woman fell out of Marissa’s sight. Not knowing how to respond she retreated to her car without any groceries and started to call her husband, Nick. Voicemail.
“Nick please call me as soon as you. So

Truth or Dare
“Justin, are you coming or not?”, asked Lexie. The two teens were on a mission to prove to their superstitious friends that there was nothing scary about the abandoned house on Cooper Rd. “Yeah I am on my way, just give me a moment to grab all the gear”, Justin replied. They were going to prove their friends wrong, but do so by pranking them. The idea was that if they could create fake ghost footage, than they could then show their friends how easy it was to up this afterlife junk. Lexie ran her fingers through her long blonde hair as she looked across the room at her close friend scramble to get ready. She was a tall girl, picked on by some of the students, but Justin was able to show her kindness all the time. Justin was a little shorter than Lexie, with medium brown hair. He always hung out with Lexie because she never said anything about his below average weight. He really tried to put on weight for some of his other friends but she was always so welcoming.

Isolation (Couple to bears)
I had to isolate myself from the others. The virus must have become airborne, because it started to spread at an alarming rate.  My friends, family…Emily, all gone because of the virus. The cities were the first to go, so many people in such small places. People then started to move out to the counties and the rural areas. God, it was a massacre. Nobody expected any of it. So here I am waiting out this forsaken virus, hoping somebody out there will find a cure and humanity will once again be normal. Although I know that is impossible, this wound is something unlike any other. So many people gone. Emily once told me that this would all blow over, that somewhere in DC the nation’s best scientist were fixing the problem and would save everyone. We were so naive but I believed her because I loved her. I wanted her to be right. After her loss I had to leave our home, our old backwater town, and all of our memories behind. I continued to sip on my whisky as the firewood crac

Black Market Hustle (Man to Platypus)
Black Market Hustle (man to platypus)
Hudson got comfortable after a long day’s work. The job was to capture wild platypuses on the east Australian coast. He was hired to catch them and sell them within the black market animal trade. The business was a multi-billion dollar business and Hud felt no shame in doing the job. The animals could always just have more kids. He had to feed his lifestyle and this was a pretty great gig for that. The sound of a beer cracking open and the TV turning echoed in the hallway of the facility. His group of men were going back out to hunt in a few hours and he was going to relax while he could. That is until the rattling of cages caught his attention. The sun peeped through the shades, as Hudson walked from his personal quarters and started walking towards the animal holding cells. As he turned into the room, he shifted his vision to the back corner. He thought he saw a shadow dart into the corner but as he stared further he saw nothing but the tr

The Petting Zoo Incident
The Petting Zoo Incident (Teen into llama)
Trish was one of those volunteers that loved animals but could never handle doing the dirty work. The full time employees like to call them mollies, as in molysomophobia or the fear of dirt and grime. It was something that many volunteers were teased from because they were mostly kids who never knew what it takes to care for an animal 24/7. Trish was used to the taunting and shrugged it off. She loved animals and if working with them meant having to deal with the smelly cages and gross diet plans then so be it. She was finishing her rounds before heading home and had to make sure all the animals had been placed in their pens at the petting zoo area. As she made her way into the yard, she saw a few animals were still outside. Specifically the donkey, a few sheep, and the young llama. The donkey was pulled in easily and calmly walked into his stall to get some food. The sheep were a little more difficult and tried their best to run back out of t

Witch in Training (Female Teen to Raven)
The sun was setting over the peaceful little town of Beacon Hills, when Tiffany began to walk home from school. She was interested in the homecoming committee to meet some new friends. It wasn’t much of a huge success. No one really talked to her. Perhaps it was because she was always considered a loner. She liked to wear black clothing and makeup and never could say the right things. It probably didn’t help that she had a small hobby of witchcraft. It all started when she was a young girl. She found a small book on the subject in the library. It looked like someone tucked it away behind a few of the Goosebumps books. Once she finished that short book, she wanted to know more. So her hobby grew along with her interest. Throughout the years she has done fake rituals, watched documentaries, and chatted with others about her love for magic in an online chat room. Days like today, after school, reminded her why she loved the idea of being some powerful witch. She could make kid

The New Ranger (Male to Elephant)
The daylight broke through the canopy in Doi Suthep-Pui National Park, Thailand. The water could be heard moving downstream a few miles away and the sounds of the local birds sang through the air. Noah traveled down the road on the back of a rescued Asian elephant, as they headed towards the Elephant Nature Park. This was a dream job for Noah. He traveled out to Thailand this summer to get experience working with animals as he was training to become a veterinarian. The reserve was perfect for him because he was able to form a connection with the animals, travel to this exotic country, and build his resume for any future employer to see. The young man had been working for this reserve for over a month now and he was really getting the hang of all the chores. His dedication to serving all the animals was very welcomed and the animals themselves loved all the nourishment. Noah began to think back to the day he first arrived at the reserve and got paired up with the elephant

Of Fire and Brimstone (Woman to Hellhound)
The hellhound is a common legend that is told throughout the town of Bungay, England. In 1577, there was a sighting of pitch black dog with fire in his eyes and chains rattling behind him. The legend also tells of the air smelling like sulfur and brimstone. This mysterious beast killed two men that night and severely burned a third man. The legend states that if a man is to look into the eyes of a hellhound on three separate occasions, they would soon be found dead or missing. Vanishing into the night it was never captured. Since then many more sightings have been conducted and people often see the same creature. After all, it isn’t hard to mistake the red eyed stare piercing you through the darkness.
Clover grew up with this myth being told to her constantly. She was a black haired, average looking teenager about to graduate from high school. People called her a freak and a weirdo because she was what kids considered a “gothic chick”. Clov

The New Chimpanzee (Teen to Chimp)
This was Colton’s first day working for the zoo keepers and he hated it already. The animals were so needy with him having to run from one exhibit to the next feeding all sorts of creatures. He was never much of an animal lover but he promised to help his weird uncle over the summer. The pay wasn’t too bad anyway. His day so far had been rough with a close encounter in the panda exhibit. Those things are not as peaceful as they appear to be. He was able to shake it off and get back to work, however he will never turn his back on Pete the panda ever again. Colton was heading back to the zookeeper house and see what they had him doing next. He walked through the doors and looked to see that he was scheduled to work with Marsha, one of the elder zookeepers, with feeding the entire monkey house. He immediately brightened up after hearing he would be working with Marsha. She was an amazing woman. She was smart, beautiful, and sharp. Her knowledge on the zoo animals

Jenny from the Block
Jenny from the Block (Woman into Donkey)
The day was a rather ordinary one in Orenfield. A small farm town with a population under 500, Orenfield was the complete opposite of what Jenny wanted in life. Jenny wanted excitement and adventure. As an 18 year old, she did not want to be stuck on a farm looking at stupid donkeys and cows all day. She stared out at the window of the moving van watching her past life in Chicago seem farther and farther away. “Mom this is dumb. Dad is not evil, we certainly don’t need to be driving away from him and hiding in some shit hole of a town”, Jenny shouted. The brakes of the car slammed and horns blasted from behind the moving van. No doubt some of their stuff in the back was broken. Her mother and Jenny made eye contact, and Jenny could see nothing but fury. Perhaps it wasn’t all anger, maybe there was sadness behind that glare. “Well what do you want me to do about this Jen! I already bought the fucking place. I can

It's Not Easy Being Green (teen to grasshopper)
“Jeremy, stop it! Those things are so gross”, screamed Rose. She jumped up and ran away screaming.  Rose was in the outdoor theater for her lunch period, along with Jeremy. Jeremy has short brown hair, green eyes, and the maturity of a six year old. They were both still in high school and have been good friends since kindergarten. Jeremy came running up behind her after putting the insect back on the leaf. “Hey. Sorry about scaring you I was just trying to show you him”, he explained. “Well you know how I feel about any bug! They are gross and ugly and should all just be destroyed”, she huffed. Jeremy smiled, as this was her usual response to anything that was considered creepy and crawling to most people. Jeremy liked them, but he was different. He was into the whole science and nature crap that not most teenagers think about. Rose, although her name suggested otherwise, hated the outdoors and could not get into hiking, camping, or even being o

You Are What You Eat
(Woman to horse)
The front doors to the supermarket slid open as Cass inched into the building. Immediately pulling out her list to find what items she needed for her apartment. She has always been a sheltered type, avoiding any public interaction. She has never had the nerves to go out by herself and enjoy herself. Ever since her childhood, she never wanted to draw unwanted attention. This attitude has persisted into her adult life and she hated it. She wanted to be carefree and enjoy herself.
“Excuse me ma’am, but may I offer you a free sample of our new teriyaki steak bites?” A store clerk reached out a sample of the meat and offered it to Cass. Her nerves were getting the best of her but she grabbed the steak piece and popped it into her mouth. The flavors just exploded on her taste buds. The meat was sweet, spicy, juicy, and cooked perfectly. Cass’s eyes lit up the store clerk beamed a smile towards her. “Where do I buy more of these, please?” C
