Blossom

I am so happy to share this piece with you all!
I was commissioned by DeviantArt to do a piece of art for their Pride 2022 campaign journal over here: (once it's live!) bit.ly/DAPride22

The prompt was very open ended, and I had a thousand different concepts enter my head about what Pride means to me, and how I could approach an illustration on it. More than anything, to me, Pride is about fostering growth, and acceptance and allowing folk to have their own journeys of self discovery. Little tiger is discovering who they are, and their stripes are still changing. Also, with all of the attacks on queer youth of late, I wanted to include the adult tiger as a proud guardian figure, watching out for, and encouraging of this growth.

I try to create artwork that conveys an idea, or hints at a story, and I like to allow others to find their own interpretations within, which was my goal here. Some of us are the child, some the guardian, some of us have been both. Regardless of who you are, you are loved, and deserve to blossom.
