1. Used traditional graphite applicator for rough sketching and idea concepting. Photoshop CS6 for clean sketch, lineart, and color.
2. Took way too bloody long...
3. I've been in a real slump for a while and I hoped that joining this contest would get me out of it. Had a real tough time getting over the hump and getting a concept that I thought would work. All I knew was that I had to use my alter-ego character, Kiiro. At first I was going to do something more traditional "transformation" since s/he does have a were-beast form, but I thought that would be too much of a "low hanging fruit," so I decided to go with a "growing up" theme.
I've come to use the "rainbow stuff" to represent my artistic nature. As a child, I was less coordinated and didn't have a good grasp of my talents, which lead to many mistakes and/or "happy accidents." As a youth I hit my stride, found my own style, and gained better control over my skills. As an adult I begin to take flight, and take on more art projects than I can really handle at once - I just can't get enough!
and then I clicked the wrong contest tab and missed the deadline by seconds....
EDIT: After that depressing turn of events and missing the contest deadline, I decided I still wanted to fix up and finish this piece the way I really wanted to. Added textures, colored lineart, and "better" shading.
