The Leviathan that would strike Aether. Only, it did strike Dark Aether, when the power of the Leviathan ripped open another dimension and entered. You can see the Leviathan entering Dark Aether through a hole that's been ripped open. You can see a part of what Dark Aether would look like: A poisonous atmosphereless place. Aether is still peaceful and alive: Torvus Forest (Right) is still next to the water, instead of drowned in it, by a massive tidal wave. The plains of Agon (Left) are still green. And the Sanctuary Fortress (Middle) is still inhabited. You can guess where the Great Temple must be. That tiny spot where they all come together. I wanted to show how MUCH LARGER the 3 area's really are.

Cataclysm:
The starborne terror burnt through the heavens and struck Aether with an untold might. We all expected the world to shatter... but Aether held. There was great devastation, however. The green plains of Agon were scorched forever, and the forest of Torvus was engulfed and wracked by the sea. The skies burned for days, casting darkness over the land.

Wow! Simply awesome! I understand the concept and i really like it. Metroid Prime Corruption opened a lot of doors for new versions of what happened in the older games. the shading and blending just blows me away! I also like how the outlines of the objects aren't extremely thick like most pieces i see. I also love the idea of it all; how the leviathan would impact Ather in later years. Although you could have used some darker colors to give it that 'gloom and doom' feel. I have nothing against the concept but wouldn't the leviathan have impacted Ather before it split dimensions? Anyway I really love it!

Thanks man, for the critique. I like getting more explained comments, like this one. The Leviathan came with such force, that the planetary energy (that was in those energy controllers) was lost, at least half of it. So before the actual impact, it opened the 'door' to Dark Aether, and crashed right in it.

That explains the amounts of Phazon over there, while there was only some on 'normal Aether', which was stored by Pirates.

In the Lores, you can read that the Luminoth found it odd, that the impact was so heavy, but that they could not find the meteor. That's because it was on Dark Aether.

And don't forget, we fought the Leviathan Guardian on Dark Aether.

another way of thinking about it, is that the Leviathan was an incompletely evolved organism, and upon crashing into Aether, like on Tallon IV, it died, but still produced a tremendous phazon induction(which would explain why the planet didnt get converted to phazon, only poisoned.)
KiHunter's avatar
True, it is an incompletely evolved organism, but it crashed on Dark Aether. That's why you only see Phazon on Dark Aether.

Very nice work. ^^ I love how you can identify the different areas, but there's no Sanctuary Fortress. :( There's a huge Luminoth city surrounding the fortress. Actually, you should totally draw that sometime! :D

Thanks a lot, I know that the fortress is only the... fortress :D It's just a big city. It looks very cool, so I might draw that some time. Thanks for commenting =)

The bringing together of MP2 and MP3 in this drawing idea is pretty cool, but what I like best is just how incredibly well drawn it is. It's beautiful really.

Yeh, I used the 'controllable' Leviathan from MP3 as reference, indeed. Thanks a lot for the comment :D

great job Ki, you've gotten much better ;]

Thanks, if you look at my collection "Metroid", you can see my featured art in the order in which I made them. I have to say that 'MF - The SA-X' is nothing compared to this one, so I think you're right. BTW, why were you gone for so long?

Wow, this is definitely one of your best. This must of taken along time. The coloring on the planet looks fantastic- amazing detail- likewise on the different galactic entities
KiHunter's avatar
I think this is my best one. The coloring did take little more time because it had to look very smooth, and to do that with markers, that's pretty hard. But thanks for the great comment :D

O_o oh mp2 i've only played the first, but anyway your pic is really nice!
faved!
KiHunter's avatar
OK, it's not as good as the first, but it has some nice gameplay and lore stories too =) Thanks for the comment and the Fave anywayz :D
