Not completely the movie design, not quite my preferred design but somewhere in the middle.

Its cool to see the movie look mix so well with the comic. If you can, id love to see how you'd draw Daredevil from the Netflix series

Awesome work on Cap :D

Have you heard on Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015 that they're gonna make Cap wear this outfit (Marvel NOW)?

I've seen pictures of Cap in one of the Age of Ultron location shoots that has him wearing a new suit that looks like an amalgam of the suits that came before it.
A little red running through the blue this time.

I figured it out, Charles. (cool name btw, considering the business you're in)

I watched The Avengers yesterday and everytime Cap was on screen in his uniform without the mask on, he looked pretty darn good! All blond and square jawed and buff. Even had the determined and concerned Steve Rogers look.
But once he had the mask on he looked like a man-size kid trick-or-treating. Just that one piece made him look ludicrous. The tiny eyes in the deep big eye holes especially made his face look tiny. In the comics the mask is just a thin layer of fabric, not a pair of goggles without the glasses. Makes a pretty big difference.

Did you watch it yet? It's very good!
Cheers. :)

As of yesterday I finally watched the movie under threat of having my G.E.E.K card taken away.
I thought his costume looked okay. It's one of those odd things when the you're able to spot the design flaws in stills pictures but when it's in action it looks okay. I can't help but use this as a comparison but when the promo pictures from Superman Returns were released Supes costume just looked off. His collar was too tight around his neck, the cape has heavy, the shorts were now speedo's and the coloring was too dark but then on film it looked okay... Not perfect but okay.

That is the toy, are you kidding me? :faint: :faint:
I thought that was the movie costume, I was already shocked at the huge seams on the patches of his suit and the obvious airbrush work on the bullet hits on his shield.

But I gotta say they hit it out of the park with the hilariously big head of his, just like in the movie stills.

Yep, it's a toy.
Check out this link :pointr: [link] scroll over the image and click "gallery" to check out all the pictures.
That's one of two shields and it comes with a helmet-less head.

You can see why I used the Hot toys pictures to reference my Thor picture now :pointr: [link]

This "toy" is INCREDIBLE! I usually spot fake/miniature a mile away, but the helmet version got me fooled. 30 points of articulation, holy mackarel! How did they even get the clothes on...

Cap looks far out! Great work. Love the overall design and composition of the piece. Can never go wrong with a stars and stripes motif in the background.

I'm one of those that really dug the First Avenger uniform form the get go. It just made more sense for the era and was pretty practical and tactical for a Super Soldier.

I also like the new Avengers uniform. I must admit the new skull cap may take some getting used to, but its not too far off from the First Avenger helmet.

I see you went with a more comic book costume design as in The Ultimates, rather than the actual zippered uniform look. Love the gloves!

Awesome work on the shield again!

I like all three versions of the Cap's costume that were used the the Captain America movie especially since one of them was based off of the Ultimates WWII Cap and the major costume was a great mix of military and superhero.

I'm already used to the Avengers movie costume. When I drew this I had completely had another version drawn and the very same day that I penciled this and was about to add the colors there was a boatload of Avengers promotional tie-in pictures released and I noticed the lines I had drawn on to Cap matched many of the unique additions to the costume that will appear in the movie... so at the last minute I just added a few of those things into this picture because I liked the way they looked.

And it's always fun coloring that shield.

I liked all four versions(including the US War Bonds/USO Tour uniform) :)

I did stop by the shop today to pick up a Bowen Nova(Modern) mini-bust and asked Derrick about the pieces you donated. He said he had them in his office and will most likely offer them up @ The Palms for the Avengers promo premiere.

I also asked him about this upcoming local Comic Expo in Sept.

The explanation behind the Captain's new duds in Avengers movie itself is pretty good.

Their actually going to be out at the theater?!
Wow, between a sketch session during the day of the 4th, John Romita Jr. starting his sketch-a-thon later that day and Free Comic Book Day on the 5th it's going to be a exhausting weekend for the guys at the shop.

I wonder how much the comic shop owners know about the Comic Expo... So far it seems like we're all finding out the developing info together.

That's good to know that an explanation on Cap's new modern uniform will be covered in the film. Though I feel no explanation would've been necessary on-film, thanks for the heads up and looking forward to it!

That's what Derrick told me so I guess that's the plan! I wasn't able to go to the Avengers special screening this past Thurs and don't really plan on going to see it until next Sat so I won't be able to participate in the raffle giveaway of that awesome Capt America piece...if Derrick actually offered it out as a raffle giveaway.
Yes, he told me about the JRJR sketch-a-thon and FCBD. I wasn't aware of a sketch session for that Fri. Are you involved with that?
Man, I'll be at work Fri so am going to have to miss out on that!

I just found out about the Comic Expo last Sat by a guy that works at Maxximum. He mentioned that not much info is out other than an exact date, exact location and its website and Facebook stuff, but yeah, we are all finding out as its developing.
That is great Vegas will have this. I did go to the one LVCC @ Mandalay Bay and was hoping there'd be another one.
In the meantime, I may check out this Animegacon in Aug.

The costume design explanation is just a nice little half-second of dialogue that might put a smile on your face.

I was invited to the sketch session for Friday by the guy who's throwing it together but I'm not going to make it out and I don't plan on making it out to the JRJR sketch-a-thon either but I'm really hoping it goes well.

The Avengers sketches along with a couple of Batman pieces were just a little side project that I'd had in mind for years. I had been suggesting something along the lines of those sketches off and on for a while, wanting to put the task upon myself to make a sketch for every club member of Comic Oasis... but I don't think that's ever going to happen and those few pieces may be all that comes of that idea.

Yep, the Comic Expo seems to only have guest information so far and Grant Morrison is hosting some Morrison-Con across the street at the Hard Rock on the same weekend. So far that's seems like a glorified three day signing with him and four other people though.

If this is the Comic Con at Mandalay Bay that happened back on Halloween weekend in 2003, I was there as well. that could have been a good con but nobody knew about it... I still had a great time!

Avengers was really a standout success! Glad it lived up to the hype and more.

I see what you meant about Cap's updated uniform "explanation" and it did put a big fanboy smile on my face.
I really enjoyed all of Cap's scenes, when he had the facecowl & helmet on and when he had it relaxed.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the film, I've been hearing nothing but good things about it.

I'm close to having my G.E.E.K. card taken away from me since I'm probably the last fanboy on earth that still hasn't seen the movie.
I knew to much about it before they even started filming like that little beat about the costume and apparently things that didn't make it into the film but I'm sure I'll still be pleasantly surprised by many things once I do see it.

I am going to ask to see if its possible for me to particpate in the JRJR sketch-thon on the open available times I have. We'll see.

That's cool about the side project sketches.
I never really asked and was never really told the whole story of what happened with Tim Boal but whenever I think of Comic Oasis I still picture Tim's face and not Derrick, even though Derrick has owned it for some time now. Weird!

I dunno about this "MorrisonCon" as I'd much rather go to the Comic Expo! First I heard of it! I may check the website and Internet chatter but yeah, not really interested in it.

Yeah, I also had nice time at the 2003 LVCC! It could have been bigger than it was but yeah nobody really knew about it. I did catch a Fox 5 morning segment on it a couple of mornings before the con but not sure if it was covered further by any media during the actual event.

Tim moved and sold the store to Derrick who always wanted to own a comic shop. It sounded like Tim didn't want to do the comic thing anymore when he left but it seems he couldn't stay out of it for long > [link] .
I was a customer of Tim's for quite a while and it was actually Tim that introduced me to Derrick the day he fully took over the shop in front of John Romita Jr. during a in-store signing that day.

I found out about that 2003 con in a very odd ad in the back of a Wizard magazine. Never found another thing on it.
