Watching Over

When Nidra was small, she was able to sense when ponies were having nightmares. Luna would still have minor ones (somewhat) frequently. Whenever this happened, Nidra would demand that Luna sleep in her room so she could watch over her. Even so, Nidra would still be a bossy butt about it.

Luna: *wriggles around in her sleep* Nngh

Supernova: Hm? Luna? Are you alright?

Luna: *continues to roll around*

Supernova: Must be a nightmare–

Nidra: *bursts in Luna and Supernova's room* Mother?

Supernova: Nidra?

Luna: *wakes up with a small gasp* Huh? Oh, hello Nidra. Why are you awake? It is noon.

Nidra: You're having a nightmare.

Luna: Yes, but I am okay now. Go to sleep, dear.

Nidra: *walks up to the bed and tugs on Luna's mane*

Luna: Ouch! Nidra!

Supernova: *snickers*

Nidra: Come to my room

Luna: May I ask why?

Nidra: So I can make sure you don't have anymore nightmares.

Luna: *smiles and strokes Nidra's mane* Thank you, Nidra. That is very sweet of you but I really am fine. I have been dealing with nightmares for a long time now.

Nidra: *puffs out cheeks in irritation and starts pulling on Luna's mane again*

Luna: Ack, Nidra! Nova, help me!

Supernova: Alright, first, Nidra, let go of your mother's hair...

Nidra: *lets go*

Supernova: ... and second, sorry, dearest, but I do think you should go with Nidra.

Luna: What?

Supernova: *nuzzles Luna and puts his muzzle close to her ear* She's just trying to be a good princess like her mother. Making sure that nopony has nightmares. I for one think that should be encouraged.

Luna: *looks down to see a determined Nidra*

Supernova: Plus I think it will be a good little bonding experience for you two *kisses Luna's cheek*

Luna: ......... *nods* Alright Nidra *steps out out of her bed* Lead the way

Nidra: *smiles for a second then puts on a serious face and leads Luna to her room*

Luna: *looks back at Nova with a small smile*

Supernova: *smiles back*

Nidra: Okay, get in bed, Mother.

Luna: Yes your highness *steps into Nidra's bed*

Nidra: *hops on with her mother and starts to nuzzle Luna's head*

Luna: *smiles* That feels very nice Nidra.

Nidra: Shhhh go to sleep, Mother.

Luna: Sorry *closes eyes*

Nidra: ................

Luna: .....................

Nidra: .........................

Luna: ...............................

Nidra: I can tell that you are still awake.

Luna: ............... *opens one eye* I can tell you are very sleepy

Nidra: Nuh-uh!

Luna: *lifts Nidra with her magic and puts her by her chest*

Nidra: Hey!

Luna: *pulls Nidra into a cuddle* I think I'll be able to sleep much better like this

Nidra: *grumbles and then yawns*

Luna: Sleep well, Nidra *kisses her head*

Nidra: You too, Mommy

Well, this is probably gonna be my last deviation for a little bit. I'll be heading back to college on Wednesday (gotta pack still haha). So expect more sketches and stuff Might try and get a drawing program compatible with my Mac but if I do I probably won't be updating everyday like I have this summer. Anyways, have a good rest of your summer for those of you who have a couple weeks left and good luck in school for those of you who have or are starting soon! Make good choices!!!
