How to Adopt

There are several ways in which you can obtain your very own Khimere!

First: Adopt a cub from a litter. Each Khimere cub, custom or otherwise, will cost between 500 and 1000:points:/$5-10.

Second: Request a breeding. If you do not already have a Khimere, your cubs will be hybrids and their features changed appropriately.

Third: Buy a custom. Cubs are 700:points:/$7 and adults are 2000:points:/$20.

Official Name: Tika'u
AKA: Mountain Beasts
Region: Mountain Region
Characteristics: Large, stocky body with strong front paws for climbing. Domesticated Tika'u have short tails while wild Tika'u have long, thick tails to help them balance while climbing in their natural habitat. Their bone structure is thick but their bones are relatively light to grant them higher agility. Domesticated Tika'u are gentle giants with a high tolerance for hard work and annoyances like children and other animals. Females in particular are often seen with braids in their manes from their human companions. Wild Tika'u are stubborn and can be grumpy but are generally neutral.
Bonuses: +5 points to any group held competitions in the mountain region.

Official Name: Myagama
AKA: Sunplumes
Region: Volcanic Region
Characteristics: Longer, lion-like body with strong limbs and core. Eyes are nearly always slits as they emit their own light, dim as it may be. Unlike the brighter Nebulae, the bioluminescence of Myagama is fairy subdued and usually appears in some shade of fire from yellow to rare blue. Their skulls are fairly thick and their features tend to be square-shaped. Most Myagama have long, fluffy manes and tufted tails of varying length. Females often have curly manes that grow to medium length. Myagama are very proud and fiercely wild. Very few can be tamed by humans despite understanding good intentions.
Bonuses: +5 points to any group held competitions in the volcanic region.

Official Name: Jaliya
AKA: Waveriders
Region: Oceanic Region
Characteristics: Jaliya are very compact and muscular for better propulsion through the water. They are almost strictly marine and some exhibit a 'hippocampus effect' and lack back legs in favor of longer and more powerful tails. Most Jaliya have tails that are shaped like some aquatic animal - usually fish, whales, and seals. Their noses are similar to a sea otter and close very tightly to allow for diving. In addition, their chests are almost disproportionately large to accommodate for bigger lungs. They can hold their breath underwater for up to an hour. Their fur is double-coated and very thick to provide them with insulation underwater.
Bonuses: +5 points to any group held competitions in the oceanic region

Official Name: Nisacari
AKA: Nightwalkers
Region: Deadlands Region
Characteristics: Tall and lanky in shape with long, slender limbs. Nisacari often have long 'bangs' and shorter manes down their necks. Some can have bat ears and even wings. Horns tend to be fairly short and slightly curved. Some may have extended fangs. Nisacari have extremely sensitive eyes and are strictly nocturnal. This also prevents very many pairings with Myagama or Nebulae since both often emit bioluminescence. Fetlocks are often long and trailing, especially in royal Nisacari. Some may have moth wings and their colors tend toward dark greys unless they resemble a moth, bat, or other nocturnal species.
Bonuses: +5 points to any group held competitions in the dark

Official Name: Ganhan
AKA: Dunerunners
Region: Desert Region
Characteristics: Ganhan are long and thin, with large chests and very long legs. They have short fur and most have small ears and rather compact faces. They have long eyelashes to protect their eyes from sand are built to endure harsh climates but also to be very fast. They have rougher pawpads than other breeds which gives them better grip in their desert habitat. As is the case with all other breeds, Ganhan often resemble some form of their environment whether it be terrain or the fauna or flora they coexist with.
Bonuses: +5 points to any group held competitions in the Desert Region

Official Name: Nebulae
AKA: Starseers
Region: Desert Region
Characteristics: Nebulae are almost miniature versions of Nisacari, but with slightly thicker limbs and facial structure. They tend to be dark in coloration with splotches of bioluminescence. Some can have bioglow eyes, horns, hooves, tongue, or pawpads as well. Their bioluminescence is very bright both in color and intensity and they truly shine like stars in any dark space. They often have curled horns like a ram and have thick, plush coats. Unlike Nisacari Nebulae are much more sociable and are actually rather garrulous and bold with fun-loving personalities and a deep respect for the stars. Being a tad vain, they tend to be most active at night when their colors shine the brightest, though they have no trouble being active during the day.
Bonuses: +5 points to any group held competitions in Space

Official Name: Vana
AKA: Woodwraiths
Region: Forest Region
Characteristics: Vana are intermediate in size and have a slightly shorter body than most other breeds. They are stocky and built rather like a lynx. They exist best in boreal and temperate climates with their thick fur and large paws. Vana have the most natural colors of the subspecies and most often come in a variety of browns, creams, and greys. They often have deerlike horns and fluffy manes and fetlocks.
Bonuses: +5 points to any group held competitions in the woodland region

Official Name: Beryls
AKA: Jeweleyes
Region: Mountain Region
Characteristics: Beryls are fairly stocky with long, luxurious fur that tends to curl around the cheeks, elbows and ankles. They carry themselves with very straight posture and are very vain. They're highly desirable as pets (although companions may be more accurate as Khimeres of all breeds are sentient) and enjoy being spoiled and pampered. In the wild they're largely cave-dwelling and as a result have poor eyesight. It is believed that they are most closely related to Tika'u/Dryad mixes that migrated to caves and began to develop gem and metal associations instead of plant ones. While Dryads require their host or spirit plant for essential nutrients, it is unclear why Beryls manifest as gemstones, minerals and metals. Regardless, they often carry some sort of talisman that contains some piece of their specific attunement item.
Bonuses: +5 points to any group held competitions in the mountains

Official Name: Phaerin
AKA: Raindancers
Region: Jungle Region
Characteristics: Phaerin have longer bodies than some of the larger breeds in proportion to their heights and have the longest proportional muzzles. They often have medium-long ears and flowy tails. Fur is mid-length and colors err on the side of greys, whites and blues or browns, tawny and russet. However, they may also resemble rainforest and semi-aquatic species like otters or frogs. They prefer jungle habitats with lots of rain and misty climates. Some seem to rely on moisture in the air to breathe and function properly, though not much is known about this phenomenon.
Bonuses: +5 points to any group held competitions in the jungle region

Official Name: Ceilura
AKA: Snowsingers
Region: Tundra Region
Characteristics: Built very similarly to snow leopards and by far the fluffiest of all the subspecies, Ceilura are built for the tundra and have thick coats that can withstand the coldest of storms. They are mild-mannered and gentle and only show aggression when hunting. Ceilura often form the closest of family bonds and stick together in family packs. They often have smaller horns than other breeds and short ears. They can be tamed, if only due to their general laziness and easy acceptance of new situations and environments.
Bonuses: +5 points to any group held competitions in the tundra region

Official Name: Evasceni
AKA: Wind Sylphs
Region: Boreal Forest
Characteristics: Evasceni are the smallest of the Khimere subspecies; about the size of your average dog. They are excitable and playful creatures who love to hang around together and perform various feats of acrobatic prowess. These Khimeres live in many different climates but tend more towards mountain forests with very tall trees. They make their homes in these trees, using feathers, sticks and moss to create aerial homes. Many Evasceni resemble birds, butterflies or manifestations of a daytime sky with some of the most vibrant colors seen in Khimeres.
Bonuses: +5 points to any group held competitions in the boreal forest

Official Name: Dryads
AKA: Plant Spirits
Region: Forest Region
Characteristics: Dryads are the most mysterious breed of Khimere - they have no set appearance in terms of size, shape or characteristics. Depending on what plant they are attached to, Dryads can come in a wide variety of colors, build and form. Like butterflies, Dryads form a close attachment to a particular species of plant and grow to resemble its flowers, bark, leaves, etc. Though they share the same main diet as all Khimeres (a mix of mainly meat with some fruits thrown in), each Dryad also relies on its specific plant for additional nutrients. When first born, Dryad cubs are usually some shade of pale green, cream, brown or grey. They will seek out the plant they are naturally drawn to as soon as they can walk. From there they begin to derive nutrition from the plant (usually nectar or fruit) and change color and pattern accordingly.
Bonuses: +5 points to any group held competitions in the woodland region

Official Name: Ahaia
AKA: Deities
Region: Celestial Plain
Characteristics: Very little is known about Ahaia, the legendary, godlike breed of Khimeres. They are known to have powerful elemental abilities and are said to be huge, the size of ten Tika'u or larger. Ahaia also have the ability to shapeshift into smaller versions of themselves (to blend in with common Khimeres), humans or 'taurs'. They can teach normal Khimeres to change into human and taur form as well by unlocking a latent gene in the Khimere's genetic code. A survival tactic, it allowed the more magical ancient Khimeres to blend in with human hunters before they reconciled and learned to live in harmony.

Hey there TeacupChimera

I noticed this group died out, and I was wondering if I could possibly purchase it from you for :points: ? I think I could get it rolling again! ~

hey there!! I'm actually really tickled that you're interested enough to want to jumpstart this group again - I've been sick for the past almost 4 years so it's been hard to find the energy to really keep it up and running. if you'd like to become a co-founder and work with me, there would be no need to pay! I can't imagine fully giving up the rights to the species since they're so near and dear to my heart but I'm sure we could work something out? I'd love for the group and species to become more active again. there's also quite a bit that I'd like to rework about the species - the traits, the lore, etc, but it's a bit of a daunting task to undertake by myself.

I'd be down for that c:
(I KNOW that I can get this group up and running again! I'll note you with my ideas and if you want to send an invite to the group that'd be awesome.)

Is this group still relevant? If so i'd love to join and design babies!

I think creating new designs/adopts can really add to a group's popularity ~ And i'd be happy to have you guys check them first.

hey khimere peoplesss!! Just wanted to ask, are allowed to draw our khimeres being ridden by humans and such :) ? I want to draw my Khimere and OreBeasts together at some point going on a hunt or something XD
TeacupChimera Featured By Owner Jan 15, 2016  Hobbyist General Artist
sure! as long as you remember that Khimeres are sentient and they'd have to have a pretty strong bond with a human to consent to being ridden. c:
(also that sounds adorable)

As far as I know, we don't have any plans for Khimeres being rideable, but I'm not sure there would be a reason for us to tell you that it isn't allowed or anything?
It would probably be a better idea for Tea to respond just to confirm, but as far as I know there hasn't been a confirmation of riding Khimeres or a denial of riding them...
However, it also depends on the subspecies of Khimere! Since some are much larger and some are very small, so please keep that in mind when drawing. <3
