Super Llama: Llamas are awesome! (34)
My Bio
I may draw ocasionally for fun, but I actually work as a game developer at an indie company called In Vitro Games, where we're currently working on Defenders of Ekron; a classic shoot'em up game with a topdown adventure-like twist.

I don't actually work there as an artist though, but as a programmer, and as a game/level designer.

Favourite Visual Artist
Don't really have one.
Favourite Movies
Changes over time.
Favourite TV Shows
Again, changes over time. But I'm definitely more into animation than anything else. Currently "following" MLP: Friendship is Magic and Doctor Who, and The Legend of Korra.
Favourite Bands / Musical Artists
Fairly "loyal" to The Beatles and Queen, otherwise, changes over time.
Favourite Books
The Hobbit and is the first thing that comes to mind. Very into Harry Potter too. Pretty much default fantasy nonsense.
Favourite Writers
Tolkien, guy's awesome.
Favourite Games
Mostly Nintendo's First Party games, Mario, Zelda, Metroid. Big Capcom fan too.
Favourite Gaming Platform
Mostly stick to Nintendo, nostalgia goggles drive me to the N64.
Tools of the Trade
Uh, dunno what this means.
Other Interests
Not much really, besides all that other stuff, I play the piano for fun, and I'm currently working as a game developer.

Game's pretty old at this point! It started development between seasons 2 and 3, which means there was no alicorn Twilight yet at the start. She did become an alicorn mid-development, but I decided it didn't fit the game for several reasons. If I ever work on a sequel (probably wont tbh), that'll most likely have an alicorn Twilight from the start.

Since you both had the same idea, here's a copy-pasted comment. Yay, efficiency!

I've been thinking about this and... I think getting a few (or even a lot) of playtesters would be just about perfect at this point. I'm not aware of any more bugs, and as I said, everything's fully complete in terms of function, but you know how it goes, there's always something left to break in any game!

It's actually kinda sorta what I did with the full version of Mega Pony. If you were around back then you'll remember I actually did three separate releases of the game at different states of completion. The only thing that makes me a bit worried about doing this, is that if I release this version publicly, the "actual" release of the update is not gonna get much attention. And I'm worried because looking at download numbers of all versions of Mega Pony I released, the least downloaded ones are always ones that are more or less a follow-up on a big release. The only exception is a quick update on the final version that fixed a game-breaking bug, but that was done just hours after release.

So I kept thinking about it. I don't want to release it publicly just yet, but at the same time, I DO want to let anyone who wants to playtest it to do so. Soooooo how can I do that exactly?

Aaaaaaaaand I think the answer is Discord. Not the character, the application! So how would you guys feel about a Mega Pony Discord server? I think it'll work perfectly! I can post a build of the game, and we can pretty much immediately talk about problems and bugs or even ideas and whatnot, and I won't have to come up with excuses to talk about progress on Deviantart or Youtube (meaning I won't need to come up with a new piece of art/video just to start talking like I've been doing until now, haha).

If I have a bit more free time this weekend, I might even go ahead and create the server as soon as tomorrow!

What do you think?
Pause menu update, and a few problems.

To tell the truth, I've been a little bit... stuck thanks to the supposed bonus ending. I thought I had it figured out, and I actually expected to be done months ago. But once I started actually creating the ending I just realized it just wasn't conveying itself properly in the context of the actual game. I tried to salvage it and going back to the drawing board, but I just don't know what to do with it anymore. I've been playing around with the idea of just scrapping my original semi-ambitious plan, and just going with a generic message at the end. It feels like the most logical choice, but I still don't want to take it. I still feel like there's some way to make it work. My current plan is to take the original idea, which is basically a long cutscene composed of several semi-animated scenes, simplify it, and just mix it in with text messages inbetween each scene to fill in the blanks and convey some more information. It doesn't sound like it's gonna be as elegant as I originally imagined it, but it might just be the better option.

That's... really it in the end. I still come up with a few stuff for the new mode every now and then, but the thing is ultimately finished at this point. It's just this ending that's holding me back.
I've made progress since I've made this post, but I'm currently in a little bit of a break due to some IRL stuff that's going on. Usually that means something bad, but in this case, it's quite the opposite, haha. Not even gonna make an excuse, good stuff happened to me and I'm doing my best to enjoy myself. But I'll go back to Mega Pony pretty soon, likely at the end of the month.
