Give them some love...
Give them some love...
It was my last morning in Pittsburgh. I expected this trip to be different from all former trips and it has been in dramatic ways. It’s time. As a family we can finally say what everyone who knew Shaun to be true:
From all official agencies, no wrongdoing or evidence was found against Shaun whatsoever. All allegations were proven false. Police have cleared his home, his computers, his phone, his cameras, everything. Lincoln Park interviewed the students in the days following his death to inquire of any complaints and there were none. Not one student. Not one person in the countless classes and shows he had done for two decades raised a single complaint. He was their favorite teacher, they loved him, he changed their lives and they were heartbroken. That’s what they said. Shaun was innocent. In the week following his death I met with detectives and the first thing they said to me was “had he just waited.”
The CD’s found suddenly appeared out of the blue the day before his death and were “discovered” by a single juvenile who is the sole bearer of the accusation. Shaun’s fingerprints were not found on them. Shaun gave free access to everyone in his house and kept nothing hidden from anyone. Shaun ensured that his home was a safe haven for anyone under his roof. Every person, every child I’ve talked to have stated there were never any CD’s in this bag that they were supposedly found in. Yes, I’ve talked to everyone. Even the detectives said that even though these things were in the house it didn’t mean they were his. Being there didn’t amount to possession. They saw the inconsistencies from the beginning; that none of the accusations made sense and he didn’t even remotely fit the profile. Too late now. It’s utterly heartbreaking.
We know the names of all of you who did this to Shaun, to my family, to his friends and his students…and we’ve known your names from the beginning. We know your motives and how you would benefit, as vindictive and meaningless as it all was in the end.
My brother is dead because of you. And in this brutal year and a half I have not stopped pursuing justice and collecting every incriminating piece of evidence you left behind and law enforcement has ALL of it now. Yes, it’s taken this long. The infuriating part has been that justice does not move at the speed of CSI and the slow crawl forward has felt like a standstill or even complete roadblocks at times. But move forward it does and the truth is coming out.
And if any of you who did this feel tempted to throw vitriol in our direction in some faux defense, come after me. This was all me as I would watch my mother weeping helplessly and my father withering away.
In time, by Grace we will forgive you. But forgiveness does not erase consequences. And they’re coming. You didn’t perpetrate this just before all of us, you perpetrated it before God.
I ask all those who knew and loved Shaun to share this everywhere. Your support, your thousands of messages about my brother and your continuing love for him and my family is beyond measure. And this is how I end this trip home.
