was an upgrade to the vf-1 a and j  had better armor stronger engines and improved weapons. i believe this was the last valkyrie version before the switch to the alpha and beta fighters

and by the write up on it it had two lasers on the side, a 20mm auto cannon in the middle, and two mini missiles on each side of the head .

the vf-1r is mentioned on page 63 of the Robotech RPG book
and the weapons systems on the head are stated out on page 69

Yes the vf-1r hassle three head lasers and I could be wrong some mini missiles in the side

after this Destroid was built after the second robotech war

i think its the officers pod your thinking about  used the same colors in the two pictures

i changed the colors up some but they are based off the VF-1A Dark Birds from Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Episode 5
