Pet Basics

Through their adventures in Velukaelo, your ketucari is able to find and train native fauna to do their bidding. The Pet Handbook is here to walk you through all things pet-related, so strap in for read of our little game-within-a-game! Before we get started, here is a quick overview of key rules and points that will be covered in the sections below:

Tiny Grey Bullet FTU by OwlKhat Each ketucari can have a maximum of 2 companions. An additional companion slot can be unlocked after your ketucari has trained 5 pets. When applying the third companion for the first time via the Hoard, please be sure to link the 5 trained pets as proof.
Tiny Grey Bullet FTU by OwlKhat You can swap pets at any time. Pets will be placed back in your hoard after being unequipped.
Tiny Grey Bullet FTU by OwlKhat You may buy, sell, and trade pets just like regular in-game items. Even fully trained pets may be sold.
Tiny Grey Bullet FTU by OwlKhat Each pet may only learn 1 skill. Learned skills are permanent. In order to utilize a skill once it's been learned, the pet must be shown in the piece you wish to use the skill as a bonus for.

How to Catch Pets

Pets may be found primarily through battles. Each time your ketucari battles fauna, there is a chance they will stumble upon a juvenile/tame version of that fauna. Each pet comes with several possible randomly-rolled color variations. Pets will be placed in your hoard upon being found, just like all your other loot. From there, you can equip them to a ketucari of your choosing, sell them, or whatever you wish! Pets may be equipped, unequipped, and transferred to other players via the item application/transfer threads in the Hoard

Exclamation Special pets such as Vestiges are found through raids and group events and have unique, preset skills.

If your ketucari has the Old Soul skill, they may also find pets as loot from adventures. In order for it to work, the desired fauna must make an appearance in the adventure piece. Please be sure to state you intend to use this in your adventure form so the admin knows to look for it.

In order to increase your odds of finding pets, you may use craftable bonuses created via Alchemy and Armorsmithing. By looking at these items, you should notice that there are three pet classes: herbivores, predators, and divine pets. These classes play a part in which skills your pet is capable of learning. Some pets can learn skills from more than one class.

Training Your Pet

So, your ketucari has found a pet! Now what, you ask? Well, if you so desire, it's time to train them and make them useful! Here's how to do it!

Step One

Equip the pet you wish to train to the ketucari who is going to whip them into shape. Remember, this is done through the regular item application comment in the hoard. Equipped pets will be listed on your ketucari's import information along with their equipment.

Step Two

That whippersnapper is pretty wild! Your next step will be to craft a pet collar via Armorsmithing. Getting their new pet gentle enough to put a collar around their neck is a perfect trust building exercise for your ketucari and their new companion! You can apply the collar to your pet via the Apply and Item thread.

Step Three

Now is the time to choose the skill you're going to pursue for your ketucari's pet. In the "Pet Skills" section below, you will find a list of skills and which pets can learn them. Certain pets can't learn certain skills, so if you're aiming for a particular skill, be sure to get a hold of a pet that is capable of learning it. Once you've chosen a skill, your task will be to depict the pet and the ketucari they're equipped to in five activity images relevant to the skill they're trying to learn. As with ketucari in activity pieces, the pet must be at least 70% visible in images or play an active part in literature pieces. You are free to structure these training pieces as a narrative showing the pet's progress with their training if desired!

Here are a few examples:
A) I want to train a pet to have the Gold Tracker skill. I will show my pet and the ketucari they're equipped to in five adventure pieces where they're obtaining gold.

B) I want to train a pet to have the Protector skill. I will show my pet and the ketucari they're equipped to in five battles where my pet is defending my ketucari or fighting alongside them.

C) I want to train a pet to have the Hunter skill. I will show my pet and the ketucari they're  equipped to in five adventure pieces where they're hunting down prey.

Step Four

With your collar crafted and five pieces done, head over to the Pet Training Verification comment! Once everything has been confirmed, an admin will add your pet's skill bonus to your ketucari's import. You will be able to utilize this skill from then on! Remember that in order for the pet's bonus to roll, they must be depicted in any pieces you wish to use their bonus on. If you wish to unequip your pet or even sell it, their skill will follow them wherever they go. Vestiges do not have to be depicted in order for their bonus to roll.
