Companion Races

Baublegriffins by Aiggy

Velukaelo is home to many other sentient creatures besides ketucari.
These races may be found on the bottom of the World Lore page. Developing a character of one of these races to aid your ketucari in their journey is yet another way to add elements to their story while gaining bonuses!
Exclamation Please note that this system is optional! You may include the other races of Velukaelo in your ketucari's story as you see fit, but benefits for doing so may only be achieved via this system.

General Overview & Guidelines

Overview

Taking part in the companion race system will allow you to create a character belonging to one of Velukaelo's races and develop a skillset for them via inclusion in group activities with or without your ketucari. While you may only have one humanoid character with one adventure statistic specialty to start with, you may unlock additional character slots and stat specialties as you progress. The steps to partaking in the system and progressing through it are summarized below:

1. Create a character sheet (guidelines will be listed in a section below) and submit it for approval. Once your character has been approved, the image/literature description you provided will be uploaded to Matriarchs-Haunt and the character will be given their own log comments to document their progression.
2. Include your character in group activities with your ketucari (or without them in the case of adventures, battles, and tarns) to level up their chosen stat specialty. Once you have maxed their specialty half way, you may unlock an additional specialty. Along the way, the character may bring back items from adventures related to their stat specialty just like a ketucari.
3. Once your character has maxed a stat, you may create another character to join in on the fun! The maxed character will also be able to master special skills unrelated to adventures.

Guidelines

Tiny Grey Bullet FTU by OwlKhat You are limited to one character to start with. This doesn't mean you can't include more than one humanoid character in your ketucari's tales, it only means that only one character can benefit from this system until you unlock more slots. This is to help keep the system from being taken advantage of.

Tiny Grey Bullet FTU by OwlKhat When being rolled in adventures, the character will take up a slot in the piece's roll limit. For example, if including them in an adventure (which has a 4 ketucari limit), you can only include 3 ketucari in addition to the character. If you have two humanoid characters in the adventure, you may only include 2 ketucari and so on.

Tiny Grey Bullet FTU by OwlKhat Characters do not count toward the roll limit in battles.

Tiny Grey Bullet FTU by OwlKhat In order to count in activity rolls, characters must meet the same representation requirements as ketucari (check Group Submission Requirements).

Tiny Grey Bullet FTU by OwlKhat Characters may only specialize in a total of 3 adventure stats.

Benefits, Stats, Racial Bonuses, and KO's

If you've checked out the tidbits about the races on the World Lore page, you know there's seven different races in Velukaelo! Each race has been assigned bonuses that play to their strengths, which we'll be going over in this section.

Benefits

When your character is first starting out, you can use them to bring back items in adventures (they roll as a ketucari would) and to give you bonus rolls when including them in battles. Bonus rolls in battles will apply to all ketucari participating in the battle.

Statistics

Statistics play into the main advantage of having a humanoid friend for your ketucari. Like ketucari, these characters may progress through through adventure statistics (0-200) in order to bring back more and more items. Unlike ketucari, they are limited to only being able to work with and max out 3 statistics. Why the limit, you ask? Because humanoids can max out their statistics much faster! While ketucari can only earn 1-4 points toward a particular stat per adventure, humanoids earn a guaranteed 7 points toward their chosen statistic for every piece they're in (provided they meet the representation requirements for that activity). Tarns, quests, battles, adventures-- all of these will contribute toward their stat count!

Even though characters can only gain limited adventure stats, they can still bring back at least 1 item from any adventure type.

Racial Bonuses

You are allowed to choose which of the five adventure stats your character will specialize in. Every character starts at zero, except if you choose a stat your chosen race has an affinity for! In that case, your character will start out at +10 in that stat. Keep in mind you do not have to choose the stat your character's race gets a bonus in, but it will get them ahead if you do. If you choose to max out a different stat first and pick the stat they have an affinity for as their secondary or tertiary stat, the bonus will still apply.

Hibridi: +10 Cunning
Jordskar: +10 Perception
Lucedarians and Akadri: +10 Intellect
Heldyr and Automatons: +10 Willpower
Humans and KETU-NOMALIES: +10 Luck

*Note: If you create a mixed-race character, you may choose one of the stat boosts their parent races has an affinity for.

Knock-Outs

If you look at the example above, you will notice there is a Health Status field in the information template. Characters start out with "Good Condition" in this field, and the only time this changes to "Injured" is if they incur a KO through adventuring. Unlike ketucari, which only lose some of their armor when they get a KO, humanoid characters are unusable once they've gotten a KO until they've taken a visit to the Hallowed Tarn.

Creating and Submitting Your Character

Now that you've got an idea of what your character can do for you, it's time to create and submit them! Your first step will be to flesh out your character. What race will they be? What's their background? This is the fun part, as you've got a lot of freedom when it comes to designing your humanoid characters! However, there are some requirements for the submission:

Art References must be at least flat colored and show at least 70% of the character. Literature references must be at least 600 words, detailing the character's appearance and including a bit of background information if desired.

When you have created your reference, you may upload it either to sta.sh or your gallery (unlike ketucari imports, which are only submitted as sta.sh files) and include this form in the artist's description. Please be sure to delete the text in brackets.

Owner: [That's you!]

Once you have the file and information ready to go, you may submit it for approval here by clicking here!

As soon as your character has been approved, their reference and information will be uploaded to Matriarchs-Haunt. Like ketucari, they will be given a log to track their progress. You may begin using them in activities as soon as they're uploaded!

Unlocking Stats & Character Slots

As you've surely read by now, characters only start out with their primary stat unlocked and you, as a player, can only have one character taking part in this system. Time to learn how to unlock secondary and tertiary stats for your character, and new character slots for yourself!

Unlocking Stats

Once you have gotten your primary stat to 100, you can pick out a secondary stat for your character to begin working on! From the time you declare a secondary stat, all activity pieces you include the character in will go toward leveling BOTH of their stats. For example, let's say their primary stat is cunning and their secondary stat is perception. Instead of a piece leveling only their cunning, the piece will now level their cunning AND their perception by 7.

The tertiary stat is unlocked the same way- by getting the secondary stat to 100.

When you character has become eligible to unlock a stat, please click the link below to declare their chosen stat and have it added to their information template!

Unlocking Character Slots

You may unlock another character slot once your first character has maxed out their primary stat to 200. A third characer slot can be unlocked once your second character has their primary stat maxed, and so on. There is no limit to how many character slots you can unlock.

When you have met the requirement to unlock a character slot, simply link your previous character(s) with a maxed out primary when submitting your new character for approval!

Special Skills

Once your character maxes out their primary stat, they are eligible to learn a few special skills to help out their draconic friends!

Tiny Grey Bullet FTU by OwlKhat Characters may learn a maximum of 2 skills.
